Game Thread W9 - San Diego V NY Giants (1 Viewer)

I'm surprised the Giants went back to one-on-one with Jackson.
Had to be blown coverage, or just the result of the hurry up offense not letting the defense really get set.The Chargers shouldn't call another running play the rest of the season.

Rivers is a punk, but he is also a damn good QB. Great drive there at the end.

Also, the Giants running the ball on 3rd and goal was terrible. I said it then. Why not throw the ball and give yourself a chance to put the game away?

That's 10 game winning drives in the 4th quarter or OT for Rivers in his 56 starts. Not bad. Great drive... he looked like he was totally in control the entire drive.

Glad to see the Chargers' mistakes in this game didn't cost them. This is a huge road win. Coming into the season, I would have probably expected 6-2 at this point, so they aren't far off.

Jackson owned Webster all day. On that last play, Webster had safety help over the middle but still let Jackson get to the corner. :bye:

Not sure about the holding call on Snee that changed it from a 2nd and goal from the 1 to a 1st and goal from the 14. Regardless, Coughlin made a horrendous decision in making no serious attempt to get to the endzone to finish that drive. Even with the Giants forcing them to take timeouts, the Chargers would still have had the 2 minute warning and a TO for a touchdown drive - that is plenty of time, especially with their wideouts. Manning was on the mark all day, but Coughlin never gave him the chance to end it.

:bye: I am not a big fan of running the ball out of the shotgun formation and the Giants did that on three plays from inside the 15

IMO there is no question that was a legit holding call. The announcers agreed, FWIW.
Did they? All I heard was them acknowledging that the refs called holding. Simms and Nantz were still busy showing the replay of the INT. I replayed it and didn't see holding.

My mistake, my reading comprehension failed me there. I thought you were referring to the holding call against Gates on the Chargers' last drive. Not sure about the call on Snee. :hey:

:football: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :excited: Loved the sack by Merriman to end it...take that Manning family!
"Stay classy, San Diego."
Sorry, didn't mean to offend She-li.....
Seems you missed the joke. For future reference, the " " indicates someone is referencing a quote that someone else said. This one was specifically it was from an hilarious movie called Anchorman. Here's another pertinent quote for you from another hilarious movie, "Settle down, Francis."

Rough day for the Giants and their fans. They can't even
when making snarky remarks after giving a game away.

Missing the point and classy as ever, San Diego!... and great final drive. Takes the edge of the hurt and disappointment (just a little) that the final Rivers TD should help propel one of my teams to victory.

Edit to add: ... and if you think I was the one being snarky here... "I do not think that word means, what you think it means."

Lighten up, Avery.
As a matter of policy, I usually take the sage (and original) advice of anyone, especially those who are new arrivals to a message board I have been frequenting for years and to my knowledge have never had any sort of interaction with, but since I'm quoting comedies and said initially I was making a joke, please advise me on how to lighten up further.TIA.

Actually the first play after the penalty was a screen to Nicks on the right side (which surprised NO ONE)- should've started running it from there and then thrown on 3rd down if necessary since Jacobs was getting decent chunks of yardage (the few times he was used anyway).
