Game Thread Week 1- Dallas V Washington (1 Viewer)

Now maybe my fellow cowboy fans will shut up about how awesome this team was.
We don't need ya. Quit on your team after 1 game. 1 game without your best O Lineman at that. No chance they rebound when Romo gets more work in with the rookie WR and the O Line gets healthy right? :goodposting:
This game could easily be the difference between making the playoffs and not. This is Jerry's fault. We've known that this team has lacked OL depth for a long time, but he's done nothing about it. This is a horrible loss.

Redskin starting safety Kareem Moore missed this game due to injury. The defense was just helpless without him.

Did you really think this would be an easy win? They were a 3 pt favorite. #### IT THE SEASON IS OVER. :) Some of you fans are so fair weather its sickening.

Let me help you....good OL are not good to find. 32 teams with 5 OL each = tough to find 160 good to great QBs.

Its Week 1 get a grip. The o-line is a work in a progress, Dallas refuses to draft for need, had it not been for a couple of ill timed picks Dallas could have potentially had Iupati, or Unger. They realized the deficiency your not exactly uncovering a mystery.

Wade Phillips is not a good HC and the Cowboys lost because they were not as well prepared. The Cowboys gave the game away. Time and again in key situations they gave up good plays because of penalties. The ending was typical of the whole game. Good teams don't make so many mistakes in key situations. The Cowboys have a lot of talent but they need some changes in attitude and coaching if they want to take advantage.

Denver fans: you could still be a good team if your owner hadn't gotten rid of Shanny. He knows how to coach. Love that call to kick the 49 yard FG late in the game. The Skins do not have much talent on offense but they played with passion and intensity on both sides of the ball the whole game. They deserved to win.

Thanks for totally confusing me. Thanks for the "help". Good find OL 5 each are not good to find = tough 160 good to great QBs. Well said and :X

I understand each and every one of those words, but when placed in that order they make no sense at all to me.

Anyone who follows Dallas knows that Wade runs defense and Garret runs the offense they are in essence co-head coaches. Wade did his job his D held Washington to 6 points. If you want to rag on someone please direct it at Garrett.

HC is responsible for all other coahces. If he doesn't think Garret is good, he should demand that he be fired. And given the Cowboys poor red zone performance last year with pretty good weapons, that would have been a reasonable demand for HC to make.

It is just week 1 and obviously the Cowboys have a much better chance at the playoff than the Skins. Hell they might still win the division (which isn't saying much given the Eagles and Giants play) But the stupidity and arrogance of their play tonight should scare the crap out of you if you want to actually do something in the playoffs. Obviously no matter how talented this team is (and they are talented), they are just a stupid team.

True, but discipline is on the head coach, and when a team commits as many penalties as Dallas did tonight, that is on Phillips.

If Flozell was there, it would have been offsides and we would have at least had another shot at the endzone.

Seriously, the guy couldn't pass protect all night. Barber should have stayed in to help out. He was right there and not going to the endzone anyway.

You always look at the schedule and say they are going to lose some they should win...

Well tonight they gave this one away on a fumble and bad penalties. Both defenses played well and should be proud of their performances.

Dallas will have to step it up now and beat someone they were expected to lose to.

Does Wade even have the authority to fire Garrett? I thought Garret was Jerry's coach-in-waiting.

you're prolly right. and i dont like the idea of garrett as the HC. this team needs someone to kick them in the ###! oh, and an O-line that doesnt suck

Alex Barron deserves blame for getting beat, but not the hold. If he didn't hold, Romo would have been sacked and never gotten the pass off. Either way the boys would have lost.

Does Wade even have the authority to go to the bathroom by himself? He's a chubby, ######ed puppet.

As Redskins fans, what have we learned about our team from this game? It's awesome to have a win -- and a division win no less. But what did we learn about this team? I'm not sure...
The defense was really good, even better than I expected. Other than Doughty who blew 2 key assignments and Rogers who still can't catch. Otherwise they held great, they'll create turnovers, and it's great to see our corners aren't giving 10 yard cushions on 3rd & short for the guaranteed quick out to the flat. For those who believed Haynesworth wasn't worth the off-field drama but would make it up on the field, we learned that he truly is out of shape. His one on one matchups vs Gurode were just embarrassing. He doesn't deserve better than second string based on performance alone. On the offense, Trent Williams is looking to be worth every bit of his draft position, but it won't matter because we still have an inability to finish drives.

The thing was his first move was to wrap his arms around Orakpo. He held him before he was even beat. The fumble at the end of the first half and a miss 34 yard field goal didn't help matters.

You are confusing fair-weather fandom to having realistic expectations. I have been a Cowboys fan since I was a kid in the late-70s. Current season ticket holder. There is no disputing where my heart is. But, this team is so undisciplined (probably because of Wade and Garrett). Third-most penalized team in the league last year. Twelve penalties last night. This ship is not run as tightly as it should, and yet Cowboy fans just look at Romo-Felix-Dez-Miles and think we have a birthright to be in the SB this year.Last night was a huge stomach punch. But, sort of typical for how things have gone with us, of late.

'skins fans, what do you think of McNabb? He did exactly what I expected: throwing the ball lower than needed, holding the ball too long, avoiding the rush pretty good. He was a little less accurate than usual, but that's to be expected.

100% happy to have McNabb. He's rusty for sure, and isn't what he used to be. But this is a LOSS with Campbell at QB. Probably a 20 point loss. McNabb at least can move in the pocket and make good decisions. I will take a bad McNabb day over a good Jason Campbell day. Campbell would have been sacked >5 times, had a pick, and at least one fumble. He would made bad calls at the LOS. He would have overthrown Moss several times. We'll be just fine with Donovan leading the bandwagon. The real question is why Dallas is still coached by Wade Phillips? They could hire Jim Zorn and it would be a step in the right direction :lmao: Even with the hurt OL, they had way more talent on the offensive side of the field. To put up 7 points is horrid.

That was the worst part about it from Barron's perspective. He didnt even try to block Orakpo. As soon as he cam off the edge he just went for the choke hold.

It looks like the players think that way too.

Anyone blaming Wade for the lack of offense is fooling themselves.
As I understand it, last night was essentially a continuation of Garrett's boneheadedness when it comes to run/pass ratio. He's so in love with the pass that he continually underutilizes the effective running game. I guess he's rivaled only by Andy Reid in that regard.

How different would the conversation be if Carlos Rogers didn't have rocks for hands?
It would be the same as if Choice didnt fumble.
Choice's play, aside from being boneheaded, was also the result of a good effort by the opposing player to strip the ball. Not so with Rogers and his drops. We've been lamenting his dropped INT's going back years. He's literally probably dropped about 10 INT's in the last three years alone, and these are balls that are pretty easy catches.
