Game Thread Week 4 - San Diego vs. Pittsburgh (2 Viewers)

Mendenhall Looks outstanding
The line looks outstanding. Mendenhall has been fast through the hole which is great, but all that time getting into the open field and I haven't seen one guy evaded or one broken tackle. Dude could have 100 yards by now with all those free runs to the 2nd level.

Good RB'S need good olines. You show me a RB that gets hit when he gets the handoff and I will show you a crappy RB

Not trying to take anything away from how good the Steelers have looked, but the Chargers look like they couldn't care less about this game. They do not look prepared at all.

Fast Willie may not get his job back.
Haven't been watching the game. I assume Mendenhall is doing good?
Mendenhall looks great. Hes finding the hole (which is not always right in front of him) and then hitting its hard and fast. Hes also moving the pile at the end of runs. Hes looks much better than Willie from the last three games. Also just laid someone out in pass protection.

Tomlinson looked slow on that play. He had to shed a tackle to get 5 yards, where I was expecting him to just run past him.

It sure wasn't the old LT we know and love, but it was a nice flash of footwork. Old LT would've made the corner. Even more exciting though is the return of the LT Stiff Arm!

If the reputation of the Steeler's line holds up he won't be getting blocking like this every week and will actually have to do some of it on his own. Like LT just did on that 7 yard run with a guy hitting him as he was taking the handoff.

That was a nasty block, he lit that guy up.

Rivers not getting any help from his receivers. That's two drops already, one by Gates and one by Naanee... and that isn't counting the Chambers opportunity earlier as a drop, but that was a play that could have been made as well.

He is a banger not a shifty RB. He won't make many miss he will just run through them

Love the call to go for the 1st down there.

Quick -- off the top of your head, which coaches are you sure would have punted right there and which coaches would have went for it?

Before saying how great Mendenhall looks please remember this is the chargers who made Mcfadden look good in week 1.

Those blitzing LBs are the ones taking punishment tonight. Mendenhall lit one up earlier and Moore just lit one up as well. That's never good when your D is the one taking the punishment.

This is surprising coming from a Detroit fan.

Remember when it looked like it was going to be impossible to re-sign both Merriman and Cromartie, and it was going to be a huge shame to have to let one go?

As of right now, Larry English looks better than Merriman and Aveion Cason looks better than Cromartie. (And not necessarily because English and Cason look great.)

Antoine. And yes, Merriman especially looks done

I suppose the haters will still have plenty to say about Mendenhall tomorrow, but DAYUMMM! Dude's gonna have 100 total yards and two TD at the half.

:banned:I'm flustered from watching this mockery of a football game.

I am going to have to assume you are pretty young. Your team had one of the greatest RB's of all time behind some very crappy O-lines.

I think we are witnessing the beginning of the Mendenhall era.
'Bout damn time. I've been waiting for Parker to be replaced for a couple years.
So do you guys think 1 outing against a crappy run defense is going to crown Mendenhall the starter over FWP?
No, but it will lead to a greater RBBC approach and an eventual hostile Mendenhall takeover. ETA - I think Mendenhall still needs to prove he has a grasp of the whole playbook before that happens, but I'm almost certain this spells Parker's move to a new team next year unless he's giving one hell of a hometown discount.
