Garrett Wolfe (1 Viewer)

With the Bears eliminated from playoff contention will Garrett Wolfe get a chance to play more these next two weeks? AP has been a worse runner than Benson was all year, he has proven he is only capable of being a 3rd down back. Why not let Wolfe show if he has any potential?

Has here been any news out of Chicago regarding this situation?

wolfe needs to be playing in a peewee league somewhere, not the nfl.
is that a fact? or opinion? I'm just guessing here, but if the Bears thought enough of the guy to take him in the 3rd round he's got to be at least a viable prospect. he's a 5'7 RB, but that doesn't mean he can't play. All I asked is if he might see some more time, even if to see if he can replace AP as the 3rd down back next year. But thanks for the insight.

Bears homer: I really don't see it. He isn't much better receiver (if at all) than Peterson. I believe Peterson is definitely signed through next year and is a suitable backup RB with better all around skills than Wolfe.

I think the [big play/put him in space] player on the Bears offense in the future is Hester. I personally don't think Wolfe's time in the NFL will last beyond a couple years unless he finds a niche elsewhere.

Could he see more time next year? Anything's possible, but how much of a better opportunity is he going to get than RIGHT NOW? But given he's made next to no impact since Benson's been out (and adding that Peterson/Benson both will be back next year IMO & that another RB body should be brought in).

opinion.just like your opinion on peterson.thx for that insight.
I think my "opinion" on peterson is closer to fact than yours on Wolfe. After all, Ap has been around for 5 years as a backup, and has clearly excelled mostly in 3rd down situations. Everyone talked about his YPC being so high, but since he is a starter these past few weeks what is his YPC 2.5? He is now, and always will be a backup at best. Of course that is my opinion, but i beg you to refute it.

Well, he hasn't been given any opportunity, which was the preface of the thread in the first place....Might he get an opportunity.
And if you read my first sentence again, you'll see my answer is no. And I went on to state the answer is no now and in the future. Wolfe benefitted big time at NIU by having very mobile lineman that were able to get outside and block downfield. He doesn't have the same benefit at the pro level. I'd love to see Wolfe succeed at the pro level, but he doesn't have any tool that makes me think that's ever going to happen.

I think my favorite plays are when some guy reaches out and grabs him w/one hand, then throws him to the ground like a discarded newspaper.

It doesn't mean that he can't play, but it does mean that he will be a change-of-pace guy at best. He weight 170 pounds. There is simply no way that he can stand up to the punishment that comes with having the ball 20 or so times a game. It also seems like they have no idea how to use him. Instead of running him between the tackles, why don't you try to let him break one outside?

It doesnt matter if they give him an opportunity nobody could run behind that offensive line. That line turned Benson from a 4.1 career YPC average to a 3.4 this year and even worse turned Adrian Peterson from a 4.7 YPC career average to a 3.2 this year. Plus being 5'7" and barely 170 lbs soaking wet, Wolfe would get killed trying to run behind that line.
