GB homers: Martin > Franks at TE? (1 Viewer)

Martin had 6 receptions on Sunday- is he stealing the #1 role from Franks? Favre's new favorite?
Didn't watch that game, but from the stat line it looks that way. GB TEs are always tough to pick, especially w/ 2 decent ones playing. Martin could be a decent play @ DET though since Favre looks for TEs in the red-zone more than most qbs.

Martin is usually featured more between the 20's and "Hands of Stone" Franks usually drops about 50% of the redzone targets. I could see Martin getting more looks as Favre must get tired of Franks dropping passes put right on his numbers (and this is coming from someone that HATES the Pack).

I think Martin is a liitle quicker and drops fewer passes. What we may be seeing is the development of Favre's trust in Martin. Time will tell.

I watched alot of that game and I recall Brett being visibly upset with Bubba throughout the game. Not exactly sure if it had to do with blocking or running routes. Maybe someone else saw it too and can offer some insight.

Kind of like I said above. Favre was sick of Franks dropping nice passes. The passes did have some zing on them, but after 5 years or so Franks should be used to them by now.

From CBS FF site: Player news

"Packers TE David Martin suffered an undisclosed knee injury in the Week 2 game vs. the Saints and will be questionable on the injury report come Wednesday. (Updated 09/19/2006)."

Looks like Bubba is the guy, at least for this week.
