GB pulls Seinfeld (1 Viewer)

There is not much here but I thought it was pretty funny

The Fox network affiliate in Green Bay doesn't want to report on a Packers loss during its 9 p.m. news broadcast. It's doing its part to prevent that from happening.

WLUX Fox 11 normally airs a "Seinfeld'' rerun at 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays. But when it heard that "Seinfeld'' was Eli Manning's favorite show, it decided to pull this Saturday's broadcast in a promotional stunt.

"Why give comfort to the enemy," station vice president and general manager Jay Zollar said. "Green Bay Packers fans do not want any of the New York Giants to get a good night's sleep, and FOX 11 will do its part."

Fans can vote on the station's Web site, fox11online.com, on what to replace "Seinfeld'' with. The choices are "M*A*S*H,'' an infomercial, a Vince Lombardi special, or a rerun of Inside the Huddle with Packer Donald Driver.

"That's why the good Lord created laptops and DVD players," Giants PR director Pat Hanlon said.

Now if only the local Best Buy would pull the "Seinfeld'' box set from its shelf for a weekend.

How will Eli watch Seinfeld now!?!?!? This might be the stupidest thing i ever read.

For everyone saying what a dumb idea this is, did you not catch the words "promotional stunt" in the article? This station just got a ton of publicity, including a prominent mention of their news broadcast (which is where local stations make a lot of their money). They didn't have to pay a dime, and they'll probably get a bigger audience for the Lombardi Special anyway.

This isn't about Eli, it's about Benjamins.

So, eli will be so bored without any seinfeld that he will study his playbook for another halfhour. Would'nt it be a better idea to have a seinfeld 24 hour marathon so that Eli stays up all night?

this is no worse than the hiring of a fake jessica......LOL
I would dress up as a giant Oreo cookie to distract Eli . . . of course he might want to lick me . . . but then wouldn't his tongue freeze to me, causing the Giants to get penalized for too many men in the huddle?

It IS a dumb idea. For every dollar they "save" in publicity, they will probably lose at least twice that in advertising revenue. I hope the people vote for "infomercial" and NOBODY watches (unless those are really popular there??? :boxing: ).

Worlds are colliding.

"Who put the cheese on? Did I tell you to put the cheese on? You people with your cheese."

:goodposting: And all the haters do is help the station along...

Doubting this highly. Work in the media much?

In a related story, Green Bay has enacted a new ordinance to ban VCRs and videotapes in support of the Seinfeld boycott by the TV station. When a local official involved in enacting the ordinance was asked why they didn't include DVDs and DVD players, the official replied, "Huh? What are those?"

;)

No. Anyone who wants to dress up as a cookie so an NFL QB will lick him, would definately NOT be defined as a man - I don't care what his username is. Too many "people" in the huddle? Sure. Too many men? Nope.

This, BTW is brilliant. It's better than offering boat cruises to the Vikings.

Where did I say I wanted him to lick me? I'm just talking through scenarios, guy.

You really think they will get more ad revenue in green bay from a syndicated seinfeld rehash than from a Vince Lombardi/Packers Love-fest the evening before the conference championship? And really, this is about getting people to watch their 9:00 news, not the filler programming they put in the 5:30 slot to stay on the air.

Wait til Green Bay finds out Eli likes oral.

No, you're right, not more than a Lombardi special, but Eli would maybe actually enjoy that, so I wouldn't put it past the cheeseheads to vote for an infomercial. And cheeseheads watch the news??? ;)

Oh #### you just made me start laughing out loud at my desk. This is actually one of the more enjoyable threads I've read in a while. And along with Burning Sensation, I'm laughing at Please See Mine's avatar too - reminds me of the rubbish Woody Paige has behind him in Around the horn.

This is probably the dumbest thing I've ever read. and I grade papers of students at Texas Tech.
You should be asking yourself what that comment says about you... I believe Seinfeld was voted one best shows of all time. Not sure if Wisconsin got a vote but this is by far one of the dumbest things the city of Green Bay could do for media attention. I'm sure Eli is more concerned with getting his daily fix of Seinfeld than studying the game film.

Do people in Green Bay understand Seinfeld?
 No, GREAT posting!
Yeah, everyone from Wisconsin is stupid. There you go.
Wait.. is it everyone BORN in Wisconsin or everyone that lives there??This is VERY important. TIA

:lmao:
This is a very good point.
Update??
If you are born there and determine it sucks then leave are you stupid? If you move there intentionally, are you stupid?

If you are born there and decide it's a great place to live and stay, are you stupid?

Answer those questions and you will have your conclusion.
