Gerhart is garbage (1 Viewer)

Through one series in the preseason, Gerhart looks like garbage. He is plodding and has run into his blockers on nearly every carry. Time to drop him. His low ypc is crap and he is clearly not the best back on his team.

For sure. That series was the most telling group of plays he has taken part in since coming into the NFL. Jags might want to just cut him tonight.

If there's one thing I've learned in my years of fantasy it is to judge a guy on his first 3 carries of the preseason. If he sucks, it's time to grab that sleeper backup kicker you've been eying.

The Jags helmets are ####### me up, they're real ugly.

(didn't know where to post that, figured this was a good place  )

Just felt the need to get my preseason overreaction on! Seems to be quite common around these parts so I thought I would try it myself. By the way, Lee just scored. May have to reconsider the 1.01.

Looks like Gerhart is a guy to get in the first round. The Jags are going to score every possession so I imagine Toby will a run in a couple dozen TDs.

Yikes. Forte looks even worse than Gerhart.

Meanwhile Scobee has already kicked 2 field goals and an extra point.

Sleeper alert!

being such a richardson fan I thought you'd like all that

Just caught up. He looked as good as I would've hoped. In a game he would've been inside the 5 there. He's not going to be breaking off 30 yard runs but if he can stay healthy he'll get a ton of action.

I was debating keeping him in my keeper league and he's not the typical player that I'd keep but in a league that's moving away from the workhorse, he's one of a handful. He won't have great ypc but if he's a high end rb2 I'll be happy.

A guy with close to 300 touches in his career gets called garbage because of a few preseason series after coming off of a minor injury.. only in the Shark Pool

Sign me up for some 1000+/7TD's of Denard Robinson - that Jags O can handle it!

Do you feel better now?

Lol...some of you take these boards WAY too serious! Doesn't take much to get the Golden Girls to gripe. You know who you are...always complaining about something! No time to waste sir! Gotta draft tomorrow at 0100 hours sir! Ding dong sir! Truly entertaining. Thank you! Chuck Norris thumb way up! Now, for the rest of you who can have a litle fun in here without your knickers riding up your cavities, great rebuttals! On to the next thread where I can lighten things up before the season kicks off. Unphased by the negativity!

He's upset that everyone hates Trent Richardson.

Todman is the RB to own, especially in PPR. Going to be a lot of dump offs/check downs in Jacksonville, I'm guessing. (Good news for Lewis, too.)

why would Todman get those receptions as opposed to Gerhart? Gerhart is a good receiver out of the backfield. Do you have anything to back that up or is just your gut feel?

(KFFL)Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart could be part of a running-back-by-committee approach this season with Gerhart getting around 15 carries a game, in the opinion of FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez.

who's that?

things like this are more relevant to me...Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart will be the team's workhorse, according to offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch

Seriously, can't a mod come and merge these threads? It's ridiculous that we have both of these getting so much attention and there are too many valuable topics in the SP this time of year.

Its been my gut feeling for a while, as I think he's pretty talented. That said, in last night's game he was introduced (by Tirico/Gruden, so take if FWIW) as their 3rd down back. And he and Gerhart seemed to split time with the first team.

Well he had 6 carries and a reception in 6 or 7 minutes of playing time in the 1st qtr. That gave me the impression Gerhart is going to be getting a ton of carries this year if his health holds up. I think this reporter is a little off the mark

I don't know...the way I saw it was the team said they wanted to get Gerhart 4-6 touches...he got his 1 reception and 6 carries on the 1st 2 series and then was pulled and Todman took over.

the only thing I've really seen about limiting his carries is that they'll look to rotate those other backs in to keep him under 300 carries. If he gets 265, 275, 285 carries at 3.8/4.0 ypc I'll do a jig.

Oh, I thought I saw them rotate series. Did I imagine Gerhart coming back in on the third possession? (I'll have to double check.)

ETA:

I think I incorrectly remembered the second series a bit. Looking at the play by play, Todman came in on that drive. Can't tell if Gerhart came back in at the end of it. If so, it may have been more of a spell than a share that brought Todman for a bit.

no I think they got into the red zone and that's when Todman hit the field for the 1st time. I think it was all Gerhart up until that point. In a real game there's no way he's coming off the field there. That's why they got him IMO...he scored 28 td's by pounding the rock in college and I think they are going to give him the ball and let him pound away in the red zone.

Yeah there was no rotation

I don't think the concern is as much with the carries as it is with the 3rd down work. I read some other blurbs, don't recall where, that he could be spelled on 3rd downs.

I'm not sure if you forgot, but you were the one that created this topic after Gerhart had 3 or 4 carries. Now you're saying that we are the ones that are quick to gripe and always complaining about something?

I'm not sure what the ding dongs and Chuck Norris talk is about. Did you take your meds?

Ignore list +1
