Gerhart is garbage (2 Viewers)

All I'm going to say is there is a reason I have Jordan Todman and Dernard Robinson on my dynasty roster. I missed out on Storm Johnson though in my rookie draft, or I'd have him too.

is the reason that you love the Jags run game but missed out on Gerhart?

I guess I should spell things out more for you people. I think Gerhart isn't talented and will be either ineffective or get hurt before he has a chance to be. So I'll take my shots will so low priced lottery tickets

I figured as much and was joking around but even if Gerhart does get hurt or is ineffective are those guys any more talented? If he does go down are any of those guys going to clearly take the rock and run with it and be a workhorse? IMO if Gerhart goes down it would most likely result in a hodge podge mix of two or 3 guys who's value will be totally watered down. It's not like the Jags are going to be good offensively, get a bunch of red zone looks, etc. so the only value of a RB in that offense is a workhorse and the only guy that really has any shot of being a workhorse is Gerhart.

Those guys may be cheap but I think they are wasted roster spots because even if the best case scenario happens I think there is limited to no upside. If I'm allocating multiple roster spots in hopes of a homerun, I'm allocating them to CJ Anderson/Hillman, Hyde/Latimore, Helu/?, etc....a backfield with a good plug and play running game that has a decent prize if you do hit the lottery. The Jags are more like a scratch off upside as opposed to a lottery.

I see. Sorry for being snippy. I'm pretty new to dynasty. How do you determine which running games are plug and play? Is it by looking at the various RBs skillsets and seeing that they are all similar?

I agree Todman is becoming a wasted space on my roster. I like Robinson, but he might just be a COP back.

no worries...I think it's a mix of everything if you're talking dynasty. It's difficult to have hard and fast rules and it's kind of like a puzzle. You want an offensive philosophy/coordinator that likes to largely focus on one guy (although that's becoming more rare these days). You want to target guys that if the best case scenario does happen that they have the tools and skillset to step into that role. If they are only a receiving back or if they can't catch the ball that will likely limit their upside because the team will likely look to have 2 or more guys fill the role which limits / eliminates potential upside. If I'm playing lottery tickets I'm placing them on Green Bay, Seattle, SF, Denver, etc....teams with good offenses and potential upside/score TDs. Look at Moreno last year...he was basically a healthy scratch to start the season and things broke right and he went from the stands to a top 5 RB.

i have actually removed his ability to be drafted for my weekend draft so nobody has to endure his terribleness this season.

Months later and Gerhart is still garbage. I was being funny when I wrote it but where does this guy stand for people next season?

Through one series in the preseason, Gerhart looks like garbage. He is plodding and has run into his blockers on nearly every carry. Time to drop him. His low ypc is crap and he is clearly not the best back on his team. Storm Johnson will be nipping at his heels after this crappy performance. Cut bait now.
