GET IN THE HOLE! (1 Viewer)

i like listening to Johnny Miller a lot, but sometimes his descriptions during the slow-mo replay of the player's swings are a riot, especially if it was a bad shot"ok, let's see here....good take away, you see his arm is right in line with his spine and his left hip pronating correctly ..... good position a the top, let's see if he pulls out on the way....yeaahhhhh, oh yeah right there he moves right out of it and just closes it over and comes and you see the shot goes left...."
####### bull####. The mechanics of a good golf swing are complex, but acting like it's more sophisticated than brain surgery is just stuck on stupid.
I hate listening to Johnny Miller. "Ohh... he's not going to be happy about that approach shot. He really wanted to be about two more inches to the right."It's like listening to Trent Dilfer talk about QB's.

My problem with Miller is he's so negative. The Billy Packer of golf. Everything he says has an angle of what is going wrong or what could go wrong. He had a comment yesterday that you could tell Dan Hicks felt was over the top. One of the players, I think it was Laird, hit a poor approach shot and Miller said something like "that's why golf is hard. here's a lot of contenders but not many closers in this game.". Really? From one bad shot? Hicks nervously chuckled and said "He's not out of it yet."Other than the negative bias he always has, Miller is probably the best analyst in golf.

I like listening to him but he is rather arogant. I went to a conference several years ago where he spoke, did a golfing primer/demo on the range and then played a hole with each foresome. He lets you know he was pretty good. From a TV analyst though, he knows his stuff.

Miller was at least considered, for a while, to be one of the best at his particular sport.

Dilfer was a ham and egger (FavreCo special there) who won a SB despite his abilities.

Yeah, I know he was supposed to be good. And he won a tournament. He ranks about the same as Dilfer vs. other Super Bowl winners, and if you hear Dilfer talk you would think he was #1. Same as Johnny.

:lmao:25 tour wins, 2 majors, 2nd in the world to jack in his prime. In an individual sport with over 100 guys competing. Dilfer ever crack the top 5 of QBs with much less competition?

I saw this today - its an old post but felt compelled to respond. Johnny Miller gets grief for being more frank than usual and is not a special favorite with a lot of the pros for it. I like it since its a nice change from all the ###-kissing nothingness comments that fill most of televised golf.

For zed to compare him and his knowledge of the game to Trent Dilfer means that zed is another FavreCo-type golf chop troll that doesn't know WTF he is talking about.

Past his much more than respectable record, Johnny Miller is often noted as one of the best ball strikers that ever played the game. Byron Nelson said that Miller was the best golfer he ever saw. A few years into Tiger's career he asked Miller to work with him on his irons because Jack Nicklaus told him that Miller was the best short iron player ever. .

Miller didn't reach the golf stats he could have for a couple of reasons. The first is that he spent a lot of time at home not playing golf. One year he chopped wood all winter and gained a lot of bulk and muscle. It changed his swing and he never got the feel he once had. The second is that he was a pretty lousy putter. Once he stopped hitting it as closely as he used to, the scores didn't come like they once did.
