Get Pierre Thomas Now (1 Viewer)

Been starting him and been happy. The Saints get real cute around the goaline and it really costs Thomas some easy tds. Vs atl they had a first down at the one and gave jed collins a carry then threw it two times for the td...I mean really? Pt had a 20 yard screen to get them down there and they don't even give him a shot.

Still think he's got some tds coming though. .. you know the recs and yards will be there. Pretty sure I will start him again this week even with the tough matchup.
I honestly think there's not even a play in the Saints book for a handoff to Thomas at the 1 yard line. Seriously.

I'm thinking of trying to pick up McKinnon and dropping Pierre. I don't know what else to expect from him going forward. This was a come from behind situation, and the thought of owning him in ppr was that he would be the pass back. He seems unrosterable in standard leagues, and only just so inn dep ppr leagues.

FBG still has him ranked around 28 in PPR for remainder of year. I'm still not seeing it. Dropping him this week for either Kelce, McKinnon or Royal for flex spot. Like Krunk said, let him be somebody else's headache.

I'm puzzled as well. Was the usage last week the indicator that he's just not going to be a part of the offense anymore? I'm very tempted to drop but feel I should wait one more week.

Payton is committed to using 3 RBs. Just so happens the 3rd RB until Ingram comes back is more like Pierre than Khiry.

Rotoworld:

Pierre Thomas has not lost his role to Travaris Cadet.

In Week 4, Thomas got four touches compared to seven for Cadet. Coach Sean Payton explained it by saying the Saints spent most of the game in their hurry-up, empty package that features Cadet. Under more normal passing situations, Thomas will be in. Expect him and Khiry Robinson to share the load Sunday against the Bucs in a game the Saints project to have the lead.

If that is true, this just reaffirms my view that Payton gets too caught up in trying to be clever by using a million players instead of using his best ones the most. Your 4th string RB is your best RB for the no huddle offense? Really?

The use of Cadet v. Thomas in that game was not the problem. Cadet did ok with his touches; don't think Pierre would have done much better.

Cut Pierre for Roy Helu. Pierre hasn't looked good and even in the absence of Ingram he just doesn't get reliable touches.

He'll probably have a few more big games this year but not enough to deal with the headache if you have any kind of RB depth.

Now to watch PT get like 70 yards total with a TD next game while Cadet gets one catch....

Ugh. Really expected PT to be PPR gold but he's a flex play in 12 team PPR at best right now.

Man PT and Joique were supposed to be bargain RB depth for bye weeks but have been lousy.
Unfortunately, they are both on my team. It is just frustrating watching PT lose totes to guys like cadet. Seems like the offense just runs better with PT in there.
me too. Loved my rb depth of joique, pt, pierce, greene coming into the season. Now i cut two of them and im starting reaves this week! No wonder im 1-3

Go back and re-watch the Pierre Thomas short yardage carry on 3rd and 1 in the first half versus the Vikings.

Unless he is hobbled and not saying it, then that would be Exhibit A on why he is getting fewer touches.

Yep. Payton will also throw to the third string TE on critical 4th downs.

Wonder if the graham injury helped boost his numbers today. But id like to thank the last few posters for convincing me to drop him in my league. I couldnt have used the 20+ today at all.

Even if you held, no way you could've started today.
I really considered it over Vereen, but I'm just happy I didn't cut him at this point. I think this is the way New Orleans should be running their offense, so hopefully he continues to get a lot of catches.

The only way I can comfort myself in dropping him is saying that Thomas is actually a NO WR, who we all know are the most inconsistent bunch.

After watching every second of the Saints games, I think Pierre is the least physically gifted back in the NFL. But he's smart, tough and can follow a block very well. That, plus the opportunities the Saints give him means he can score some.

Pierre Thomas rushed for 35 yards and one touchdown on four carries in the Saints' Week 5 win over the Bucs, adding eight catches for an additional 77 yards and one touchdown.

Thomas and Khiry Robinson were the stars of the offense with Drew Brees struggling minus Jimmy Graham, who left early in the first half with a right shoulder injury. Thomas had just 195 total yards in the previous four games this season, so Week 5 qualified as a breakout. He caught a 15-yard touchdown on a 3rd-and-12 screen pass before taking a toss right 27 yards to the house. Thomas will disappoint some weeks, but he's also going to have games like this. He's a weekly FLEX option.

I started him because my other options were worse. He can do this minus the touchdowns every game in this offense.

He should be great in PPR leagues, but when I play him he gets 0 and when I bench him there are days like yesterday. Not sure why the Saints ignore him for such long stretches. He definitely seems to be the RB that has the best sense of what makes their offense work.

It's so tough to stick him in your lineup when you see how slow he has become (slower than the vast majority of tight ends), but he had a nice play or two today. He still seemed to be in the mix as much as anybody but Ingram....so carry on starting him when in a bind.

He got dinged; thought he went to LR and re-appeared after and wasnt an issue; maybe my memory is off. It was mostly Ingram in the second half as Khiry fumbled and seemed to be punished a little.
