These injuries are like the pie in the face game. You never know when you are going to get creamed. It could happen while working out, practice, during the game....heck, it could happen at a pick-up basketball game with your kid. Blaming these injuries on pre-season games is dumb.
ETA: Was going to say it would be nice to reduce to 3 pre-season games but the 4th is mostly for the fringe guys and last minute player evaluation. Probably valuable to NFL teams.
The people who want to get rid of pre-season will be the first to complain how bad the early season product will be without it...the biggest complaint should be the fact fans are forced to pay for pre-season...that is where the real nonsense lies...not whether a guy gets hurt in week four of pre-season or week one of the regular season...
You want to see guys really get hurt? Have them go into regular season full speed full contact without the benefit of easing into it and building up their bodies and minds for that kind of punishment.
The level of intensity, power, and speed of the pro game is not something you immediately acclimate to just by throwing a switch.

Owners charge full price tickets because people will pay it. You want season tickets - guaranteed seating for every regular season game plus priority for playoff tickets? You pay for the full package including full price preseason. If the preseason single tickets don't sell out, that will get covered by the season tickets. The way around it? Stop buying season tickets. Good luck with that.

Yeah, I usually assume most non-contact injuries are a sign of structural weakness that was bound to give in sooner than later- like Tannehill. could be wrong though as I am no doctor.
