With Manning, Jacobs, and Umenyora all with a good likelyhood of being out this week, does this warrant a degree of upgrading to Packers players?

I didnt see game, but from what I have read the GB defense played well.

Is this a favorable maychup for the Packers?

I think you upgrade Driver. Favre totally locked on to Donald last week. I also think the Packers win this in a rout. Of course, I am looking through green and gold tinted glasses too.

I like the Pack defense this week and ya gotta like ANY teams passing game against the inept Giants secondary.Tony Romo lookin' like Dan Fouts back there.

My glasses are tinted Giant blue-just speaking the truth.

Pack defense for sure.

Upgrade anyone else? Nah...the O sucked.

Driver is the only one to start right now and nothing that came out after this week changed that.

Favre had several Eagles draped around him most of the game. They'll fix that, but Driver is the #1 target.

Agreed. The Packers' D is a must start this week. That is a good defense and they should be all over Lorenzen. Offensively, I wouldn't touch anyone other than Driver. Maybe Favre in a really really large league but right now even he is iffy because there simply isn't much talent on the offense. The Packers could get Jennings back this week but that still might not help much. If I had Favre I'd prefer to wait and see if anything positive develops offensively before starting him.

All homerism aside, do you see this as a blowout, with the Pack distributing the beatdown on the lowly G-men?

I see it as a pretty lopsided game in all honesty. I think the Giants are going into a tailspin this season, and it will culminate in about a 4-12 or 5-11 season. The main reason is that Coughlin, although not liked by anybody, is also a lame duck with that contract he signed. He will lose this team unless they win early and with Eli and Jacobs out, that looks unlikely.

He's an abrasive coach to begin with. Add in that they probably start no better than 2-4. Then add in the fact that players will start infighting. Then add in that they have injuries. And it just looks like a long season. Plus Tiki will make sure to preen for the cameras and keep the harsh spotlight on the team for his own agenda as well.

I could see it that way.The Giants really looked terrible defensively. If Favre starts clicking in the short passing game the way he did in preseason, they may barely run the ball and just keep exploiting that secondary. Id look for some quicker shorter passes out of the offense to help protect Favre. Using the short passing game to offset the no running game.

Anyone else somewhat amazed that ESPN is still reporting that Eli has a separated shoulder when both he and the team denies the reports? Has anyone questioned Mort's source on his info? Every other press outlet seems to be going with the official word out of the NYG clubhouse except for ESPN, who are instead using their own reporter as the primary source without any mention of where he is getting his info or if it's just his own personal opinion.

I think this is yet another case of ESPN stretching the truth to make a story. And if they're wrong, they get to report on Eli's miraculous comeback and his toughness for playing with a separated shoulder. Also, anyone notice how it was separated yesterday, again according to only Mort, and now it's "slightly separated"? Wonder what it will be tomorrow, "minutely separated with a chance of a shoulder bruise?"

Even if the Giants offense was healthy, I think Green Bay's defense matches up decently against them. The early lines I've seen for this game had the Giants at -110 / +2, and some have now moved to +1. This game is definitely winnable for Green Bay.

I don't think the Packers are good enough to blow anybody out. Their defense is good and possibly very good but their offense lacks talent at the skill positions. It's a very suspect unit.

I love Favre, would have his children, and whatever else a die hard fan would say, but I'm not too thrilled with the O right now to start him with any huge amount of confidence. He'll end the year undervalued and will have some great games, but I'd only feel safe with him in survivor/best ball/TP leagues right now.
