GIANTS @ BEARS GAME THREAD (2 Viewers)

All the nfl wants is effing offense and its BS. Giving yourself up because your pissed you slipped?!
why are you angry? a guy on the ground thinks the play is over, and isn't making any attempt to advance the ball. If you think about it, that's not much different than a QB kneeling down. At that instant, the ref is supposed to call the play dead. Whether or not he actually blew the whistle in that split second is immaterial. If the runner/receiver/QB/whoever thinks he is down and stops trying to advance...he's down. Period, end of story.
What tipped you off that I was angry, the caps? It's a BS rule. Is it THAT much to ask that he be touched before just dropping the ball on the ground?
not at all...no more than it's not to mch to ask a RB to continue to hold on to the ball after his knee touches the ground, You never know when a ref will screw up a call.NFL rep in box agreed. Like the rule or not, it was the correct call
I understand the rule. I think its BS. Don't help stupid people.

Hand the ball to the ref every single time or go play somewhere else. To me its like not running out a ground ball, simplest part of your job.

I say this again, if the Bears lose to the Giants tonight they are done. They aren't good enough to beat the good teams. They have to beat the bad teams.

Good to know that you can now swing a WR around and throw them to the ground without a penalty.

So if the balls not catchable you are allowed to hold and take down a receiver? I'm learning about so many new rules tonight.

Soo as long as a pass is overthrown you can tackle the WR or push him around? DB's should take advantage of that rule more often and get in a free shot.

really? How was he gonna catch that ball????????
He wasn't... that should be a personal foul not a PI. That's ridiculous... since when can you swing a WR around by his jersey and throw him to the ground? Irregardless of WHERE the ball was, if that happened away from the pass it'd still be unnecessary roughness.

you can't...but there was nothing remotely rough about that..he spun him but didn't "throw" him anywhere...WR lost his balance after being turned. was obvious PI if catchable, but a LOOOOOONNGGG way from "roughness"

Well no, he "gave himself up" because he made no effort to re-establish the play. He just put the ball into the ground and got up and walked away.
that's still a bad call, though. a few weeks ago RGIII really did give himself up by diving to the ground. the officials determined that even though he dove to the ground and hit the ground prior to the ball coming loose, he wasn't giving himself up and it was a fumble. the officiating has been very inconsistent this year.
not even remotely close to the same play. RG3 dove forward, an act that clearly indicates an effort to gain yards, and the ball came out as a direct result of that move, a result of TRYING TO GAIN YARDS. IN this case, it came out because the player thought he was already down, and was NOT TRYING to gainyards.

The difference is both obvious and significant, and refusing to see the difference is just silly
it was pretty clear at the time RGIII had given himself up imo, but it's a pointless argument. he dove to the ground so as to avoid a hit. and he didn't slide most likely because he isn't used to the clunky knee brace. it was more than apparent his intention was to 'give himself up' so as to avoid a hit. so I will disagree that it was 'not even remotely the same' because diving head first was more likely a move of slef preservation rather than a ploy to keep gaining yards. the fact that a rule like this relies on an official to figure out the intentions of a player rather than having a black-and-white he was touched or not rule could be part of the problem.

but the ball came out the INSTANT RG3 hit the ground. I'm sorry you can't see the difference. pretty clear to me

I missed most of the game. Is Randle becoming a must start?
Not yet. Hopefully by playoff time. Fantasy playoff time, that is.
So is he a product of Cruz and Nicks drawing coverage? Or is he playing well?
He has his moments. And is invisible at times too. I don't think Eli fully trusts him yet. For good reason, as the pick six appears to have been mostly Randle's fault.
Yeah, that pick 6 had to be Randle's fault. You could tell from two things: Eli's body language and the receivers coach screaming at Randle on the sideline after the play occurred.

Thanks for the information. I am a huge Tiger fan and I can't turn away from the game.

yes, it came out the instant he 'gave himself up.'

no need to apologize.

LMAO...was just arguing that the Giant WR didn't fumble. Couldn't care less about the Bears, but I do hate the Giants

You've got to be kidding. I'm just going to assume you are listening to the game and not watching it, because that was clear as day.

watched it 3 times to be sure. My 10 year old boy is rougher than that. Fully 1/3 of normal PI's are much rougher than that.
