Giants RB (1 Viewer)

I haven't paid much (any) attention to NY RBs as Jacobs was going much higher last year than I wanted to take him. My last two drafts though hes fallen to me at the end of the 4th and I picked him up. I wondering who looks to be the better handcuff this year, Ward or Bradshaw? Raw stats show Ward is running better, who is working with the 2nd team? Any insight from those who watch their games, went to camp?

I truly believe Ward is the guy who would get the starts. He was very effective last season. He has had a history of injury...but as long as he is healthy Ward is their true handcuff IMO.

I disagree Bradshaw is the man behind Jacobs. He really seems to understand the game, is quick, has good vision, can play in the passing game from a receiving and blocking standpoint.

I think the best answer is both of them.

As long as 2 of the 3 RBs are healthy, it will be a RBBC. There is no true handcuff. If you really want to be covered you have to carry all 3.

Unless you are in a dynasty league is either of these players worth drafting (unless you get them late)? Unless Jacobs gets hurt it's likely neither of these two will score you many fantasy points on any given week. Roll the dice if you feel the need to hedge your bet otherwise draft BPA.

I hope this doesn't come off as obnoxious, but Coughlin doesn't care out your or anybody's fantasy team.

He'll use all three RBs and then some to keep everybody fresh for the regular season and (hopefully!) beyond.

In the last 2 preseason games it was Jacobs starting then Ward coming in and then Bradshaw 3rd.

All guys are productive, so the team they play may dictate the style used. In general, Ward is the backup as he is the guy more suited to get 25 carries, but the Giants will keep all of them fresh so that when they are in the game they can go all out.

Bradshaw has never carried the ball more than 17 times, Ward in his injured year last year had more than 17 carries 3 times (19, 24, 26)

What I'm interested in is IF Jacobs goes down, who projects to get more touches, does one look to be the GL back? Thanks to all who replied.

Committee if Jacobs goes down.Ward's a good guess at a goal line back but it could be very situational.

I own Jacobs several dynasty. One of them I am fortunate to have both handcuffs and won that league last year! Ward was impressive when filling in last year! Actually had a better apg then Jacobs! Bradshaw was impressive playoffs! Ward is the answer but if you can get all 3 your set! It is a nice situation to have. Unlike NE, Texans, TB, Seattle and maybe even a couple other teams where you need to avoid the RBBC altogether these Giants are worthy of the picks. Coughlin was always upfront about who was playing from week to week so you never had a last minute hard decision or guesswork from them.

Reach for both if you possibly can. I would especially in a Dynasty!

I took a flyer on Ward without having Jacobs. Nothing more than a cheap value bet that Jacobs gets hurt. I think Ward presents a better complete back than Bradshaw. As long as Jacobs is healthy, Bradshaw will score more than Ward. But if Jacobs gets hurt, I think Ward scores more than Bradshaw. Ward can do more than both Jacobs and Bradshaw can as individuals but can't do more than they both can do when combined.

Coughlin/Gilbride's plan (in it's simplest form) is to have Jacobs or Ward use their big size to wear down a defense and then in the 4th Q, Bradshaw (or Ward and Jacobs but most likely Bradshaw) can run all over them.

Bradshaw averaged something like 9 yards per carry and Jacobs 5 or 6 in the 4th Q last year.

I would probably handcuff Jacobs to Bradshaw, as i dont think Ward is anything but a insurance policy, and would be just a backup if Bradshaw or Jacobs went down.

If Friday night's game is any indication, it's Jacobs, Ward, Bradshaw in that order. That's how they were used Friday night, anyways...

Are you saying you think either Bradshaw or Jacobs will become the primary ball carrier if the other gets injured and Ward will simply backup whichever isn't injured? If Jacobs gets hurt, I see Ward getting his touches rather than Bradshaw. If Bradshaw gets hurt, I see Ward getting his touches rather than Jacobs. Ward brings more power to the table than does Bradshaw and he brings better receiving and finesse than does Jacobs. Ward isn't as good in the extremes as Jacobs + Bradshaw, but he does it all reasonably well it seems.

Ward is the #2 RB for the Giants. Believe it.
I know Jacobs cant catch, but i doubt that drops him to #3.
Jacobs has better hands than he is getting credit for. I reviewed all the games and throws to him. Jacobs actually had both of the toughest catches RB's had to make all year and while Jacobs did have a lot of drops, he only had 2 REAL drops. The others were poorly thrown that he would have needed to make a good catch to hall in. This is Eli's weakest area if you ask me, but they said they improved his footwork later in the year when they noticed a flaw.Ward had two of the worst drops all year, including a wide open one in the end zone. Point is that Jacobs is not as bad as people make it out to be from a receiving standpoint and I think you will see him improved in this area.

I recall watching Ward after BJ went down last year and sitting there going "where in the heck did this dude come from?"

He looked good in a full-time role and I don't see why that would change this year should BJ get hurt. With regard to a "normal" healthy rotation I suspect Ward/Bradshaw will get an even share of carries and Jacobs gets the majority of the carries early in the games.

for what it's worth.

I've been Cuffing w/ Bradshaw. Ward can't make a season... hes too injury prone. Sure Ward is going to steal carries, but theres a reason why no one wanted him during the off-season and he had to re-sign w/ NY.

Dynasty wise... u want Bradshaw on the bench. Remember as well; Jacobs is in Contract yr and the Giants have not attempt to extend him.

So in 09, who knows... BJ could be Gone and Bradshaw could be in the mix for a starting job.

Giants homers... what's the inside scoop with Ware? Will he make the team?

He's my favorite Ryan-Grant-style deep sleeper at RB right now. No one of note in front of him, young, good measurables given his size and a good reason he wasn't drafted higher (less than 200 carries last two years at Georgia).

Actually the Giants would have resigned him, but Jacobs wanted premiere money and the Giants said to stay healthy and Jacobs has confidence in himself. His value will always be more to an NFL team than a fantasy team IMO. He hurts defenses.

Yes, he should make the team...he has looked good. Droughns has value on special teams but outside of that he is worthless at this point. I would keep Ware before Droughns without question.

I totally expect the Giants to abuse him...
