Give Me a Movie/TV Show/Song/Band and I Will Review

Band: TV on the Radio

Movie: Napoleon Dynamite

TV Show: Best Season of The Wire
I got into TVOTR late but I really like "Could You" and "Happy Idiot" off of their latest.

Napoleon Dynamite is outstanding. I know some people can't stand it but I think it a great piece of comedy.

Tough call on "The Wire". Love the show. It's hard to pin down the best season. I will say that the last season was a disappointment for sure.
Agree on all 3. I like the cut of your jib.

If you like TVOTR thier other albums are solid as well. Give "Love Dog" or "Staring at the Sun" a listen.

Season 3 is the best IMO but hard to argue.

Oddly enough the season of the Wire that focused on the kids and the schools was great BUT I think Chase somewhat bungled the point about the schools. I think he focused on the "institutional failure" aspect of why the school was so dysfunctional and not enough about how crappy schools are a product of the communities they serve.

Been forever since I have seen the show, will go back and watch again at some point. Have forgotten so much.

For me the way season 3 built up to the conclusion with Stringer and Avon was perfect entertainment.

Gwyneth Paltrow

The Beatles

Not a movie, tv show, or song.

Arguably one of the greatest bands of all time if not the greatest. And even if you don't dig their music you have to admit that they've influenced every band, in one way or another, that came after them.

Not a movie, tv show, or song.

Starship Troopers

Independence Day

Full Metal Jacket

Mulholland Drive
ST: Not a fan. Cartoonified version of a great book.

ID4: Great...if you're 11 years old.

FMJ: Awesome movie. Probably the best Vietnam movie there is. At least a step or two above "Platoon" (which I think is waaaay overrated).

MD: Never made it all the way through. Sometimes Lynch is a genius and sometimes it seems like he's off his meds. MD is one of the latter times.

Explosions in the Sky (band)
Don't know enough about them to say anything.
Actually, without even knowing it, you might. They do the music for Friday Night Lights (TV) The music in FNL the film... Refused is all you need to know. I almost started a pit in the theater.

By the way, I think OPM's point is proven. He doesn't hate everything, he just hates stuff that sucks. A few things that don't, but not many.

Explosions and Refused are both great.

You starting a pit in a movie theater -- kind of lame.

Just a fill-in for OPM.

I used to work for a Vietnam Veteran and he told me two films were always the best films about Vietnam.

Hamburger Hill was the most realistic Vietnam film he ever saw with the brutality of taking a single hill

The Odd Angry Shot was based on the experiences of someone who was there so it was told with the least political agenda

He said FMJ had a great bootcamp scene but that the Vietnam side of the film was portrayed more artistic than it needed to be

I prefer Hamburger Hill and Hanoi Hilton more than I do FMJ

Wrong verb tense for Refused, unfortunately.

1. The best of the first 3 films. I took a city bus all the way across town to see the first non-VIP showing in my town. Loved it when I was 12. Now? Meh.

2. Hit and miss with me. There are some great songs on the first two albums . Maybe a couple off of the next two. Almost everything from Diver Down on is pretty weak.

3. Pretty sure I'll be OK if I never hear that song again.
