Give up DLee for Smoltz (1 Viewer)

In a keeper league here at work. I inherited a team with GREAT hitting but horrible pitching. Currently I have 3 1B (Morneau, Lee, & Butler) with 2 slots to play them. I really dont wanna give up Lee but my pitching staff is horrible. The pitchers I kept were Penny, Francis, Lilly (yeah it was that bad). Thankfully I was able to draft McGowan, Grienke, and Cueto but I still need help. Someone offered me Smoltz for Lee. If Smoltz was younger Id do it in a heartbeat but in a keeper league Im not so sure. What say you?

BTW we get to keep 18 players at the end of the year and the league is a stupid 9X9 format. SP is very valuable cuz its a weekly league with a 50 minimum IP. Not the best format but it is what it is.

Sounds like you have resigned yourself to doing this trade. Any chance you can make a deal to get more for D. Lee? Maybe try letting it be known that you are trading him and he will go to the highest bidder. Just a thought.

Based upon your parameters, it sounds OK, but I agree, not great. Can you play Butler as a 1b?

Yeah youre right. I can wait it out and see who offers me the best pitcher. If Smoltz was younger Id do it. And yes Butler is eligible at 1B & OF.

I traded Lee for Hamels and now Butler is starting for me. Keep in mind this is a keeper league.
