I am still laughing over the fact that he blatantly lies to his audience, gets called out on it with irrefutable evidence and his fans still defend him. This pretty much tells me all I need to know about his fanbase.
I never said Glenn Beck isn't so bad because ........ I only pointed out that his goal was to make money, and he is doing that. You can support him or not support. I'll leave that decision to each individual.Matthias said:And I would say that given how he presents himself, his material, and his show that if this was truly his #1 objective, that that would make it worse, not better. Think about what you just said."Glenn Beck isn't so bad because he only builds on the fears and insecurities of his audience, making them believe that their government is against them, making them even more paranoid than they started, not because he himself believes that the government is usurping the individual rights, but rather because his #1 objective is to make himself money. And if he provides shallow and dishonest news in order to do so, that's just fine."I'm not trying to say that everything he says is false. I'm suggesting that providing insightful, honest news isn't his primary objective. He may sometimes provide factual news stories, but he may also feed on fear and insecurity to build an audience so he can make more money at times also.Matthias said:So he's the P. T. Barnum of politics.Somehow I think his audience would disagree. When you get all bent out of shape supporting or rejecting his ideas, keep in mind that his goal is to make money. So far he has been successful in reaching that goal. With a deadpan, Beck insists that he is not political: "I could give a flying crap about the political process." Making money, on the other hand, is to be taken very seriously, and controversy is its own coinage. "We're an entertainment company," Beck says.

This is really where you want to plant your flag. I would rather be broke and unknown than to be rich and famous because I created a "news" program that I knew lied to and misled the American public in this way. This is really pathetic.
And yet he's so passionate about his work.I only pointed out that his goal was to make money...Matthias said:And I would say that given how he presents himself, his material, and his show that if this was truly his #1 objective, that that would make it worse, not better. to be fair, there are hosts on the left (thom hartmann, schultz, etc) who may host an intelligent show, but only give you a slanted view of the "truth". I listen to hartmann, very smart guy, but he never seems to do anything but blast ronald reagan every 5 minutesSo you dont have a problem with people who hang on his every word when it is shown that he is a pathological liar?
any luck with this? have the tv advertising boycott had any success? looking for objective answers to that question.Oh yea we want him shut down alright.Yeah, I talked to 3 liberals over the weekend. All they could talk about was shutting down Glenn Beck.jon_mx said:Liberals are obsessed with shutting down Beck, but it is a losing cause.
There are plenty of things that I disagree with. There are plenty of outlets that claim to report unbiased news that don't. That, in my opinion, is worse than admitting your main objective is to entertain and make money. So you dont have a problem with people who hang on his every word when it is shown that he is a pathological liar?
As I said earlier, there is a huge difference between slanted and straight lying to make a point. I feel sorry for you if you do not see the difference. Beck lies in that clip, there is no other way around it. That was the point of his whole segment that the MSM would not show this video because they were in bed with Obama and Palestanien. That was the whole point of that segment. Can you not see what he is doing?to be fair, there are hosts on the left (thom hartmann, schultz, etc) who may host an intelligent show, but only give you a slanted view of the "truth". Thats a weak cop out especially when you know people are taking what his show says and preaching it as gospel. Such a dirty dirty business. There are plenty of things that I disagree with. Support is also educating people on who he is and having them pay attention to him. This thread reminds me of Stern's movie:I only pointed out that his goal was to make money, and he is doing that. You can support him or not support. I'll leave that decision to each individual.
Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes. Pig Vomit: How can that be? Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next." Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern? Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day. Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen? Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."
Jon Stewart has never claimed to be anything other than a comedian that is on a a show that satires the news. Stewarts issue with Fox is their claims of "Fair and balanced", which they aren't. The CEO of Fox even stated that the network isn't tin the news business, they are in the ratings business. For some good confrontations between Stewart and those he's had issues with:jon_mx said:As if any media is honest and not slanted. Beck is an opinion guy and opinion are like rear ends. Everyone has one and in the country everyone is free to share theirs. It is funny a guy who watches Steward is concerned about someone who attacks and distort.Michael Fox said:I've only watched him a couple times - mainly because Jon Stewart made fun of him (before that I had never seen him before) - but it's clear that he runs the typical Fox News playbook which consists of: a) distort, b) attack, c) distort some more. Notice that in those steps, there is zero room for reflection or honesty. So no, I'd be willing to wager that he never addresses (at least in an intellectually honest way) this type of call out.pantherclub said:So true. So I am really wondering if he ever acknowledges this types of call outs. In the extremely limited time I have heard him the only thing he has said was that the media is trying to destroy him and that is okay they have been trying for years and he is still here. Or something to that effect. That clip should basically expose him for what he is, a lying snake oil salesman but people will still lap up his every word.
As much as I dislike Beck no person really has the power to make "a huge political divide". Some people clearly agree with him and what he says and he is not creating a divide that already exists. In my opinion Beck is intentionally trying to create a huge political divide in this country and that is just wrong on so many levels.
By lying and creating false myths he is doing just that. He is feeding the MSM liberal media myth in that clip above. Watch the clip is unreal that he gets away with his crap and his viewers are too stupid or intellectually honest to care.As much as I dislike Beck no person really has the power to make "a huge political divide". I heard his response last week. Here you go: I am a gift to Jon Stewart. I would like a dividend from Jon Stewart. Ok. I have no problem with him making fun of me, none. I think it’s funny. You tell me if Keith Olbermann would think it was funny taking the hammering that I take in the press. No way. The guy would lose his mind. I think it’s funny.pantherclub said:Does Beck ever respond to these types of segments about his show? I think Jon Stewart, you know, this thing that’s going around, and I love this, cuz this is the new thing on me is that I lied to the people when I said no one in the mainstream media has ever aired this footage of the flotilla. First of all, it’s being construed as two different things. One, that no one aired the footage that Fox was airing, which Fox did at first, and then they stopped. What I think, I don’t know, I haven’t looked into this in the transcripts, cuz I’m not in a court of law... yet- but I believe what I said was, at least this was my intent: Look, try to find this on mainstream television. They were all showing the other footage. They were showing the Palestinian footage. That doesn’t mean: "Exclusively. Only. That’s it, you’ll never find it on another channel." This is what they were going into, and remember we talked about the flotilla thing, what, 3 days into it. 3 days after it happened was the first time that we talked about it on TV, and showing that video and that’s when they were taking this up. You couldn’t find it, we watched MSNBC over and over and over again, and they kept showing the other video, and that’s how we came up with that is I kept looking at the channels: look at what they’re playing. Here’s Fox playing, and here is MSNBC playing the other one.
So what happened is they made a parody of me and now the big charge is: See Glenn Beck lies to his audience! How about the point of this? How about the point? That wasn’t the point of that show. I did 2 solid hours on the flotilla. That’s what you take? And you use that and say, see he’s lying.
How about the fact that IHH is a terror organization? How about the fact that we exposed that William Ayers, that Bernadine Dorn, and what’s her name, Jodie Evans, from Code Pink are part of the Free Gaza movement? How about the fact that we exposed that the Imam from the 9/11 mosque is one of the biggest board members on this, what is it, the something or other, this organization that is one of Free Gaza’s biggest financial supporters for the flotilla, how about any of that? No, no, no, just what I said about videos on TV and if anybody else on a network... Argue the real issues, please.

The fact that Obama has the same effect on you makes me giggle as well.I never watch the guy, but I think it is hilarious how he gets more panties in a bunch than the Beatles did when they came to America!!![]()

who's defending him?? stop watchingAnybody that gets you slack-jawed susans in a bunch like this is fine by me. The guy is a "political" Howard Stern. I don't understand why any of you spend even this much energy on him. But by all means continue, it's very entertaining. You know Beck is awful when his "target audience" starts attacking FBG posters instead of discussing the subject matter of this thread. You are enablers who cant offer much else in defense of the lies and propaganda. You are Beckian in your very methodology.I never watch the guy, but I think it is hilarious how he gets more panties in a bunch than the Beatles did when they came to America!!![]()

The sad thing is that Beck will now claim that he never wrote that book, and it will never be released, and only a small society will ever get to bask in its glory.

Focus on the real issues hereThe sad thing is that Beck will now claim that he never wrote that book, and it will never be released, and only a small society will ever get to bask in its glory.
Holy #### that is hilarious.
Actually, I don't say if there. Just because something is worse than him, doesn't mean I said he isn't so bad. It only means that something is worse. We aren't even arguing over anything, you are just trying to get me to say I like Glenn Beck. Please stop now.Matthias said:You do here.I never said Glenn Beck isn't so bad because ........ I only pointed out that his goal was to make money, and he is doing that. You can support him or not support. I'm suggesting that providing insightful, honest news isn't his primary objective. He may sometimes provide factual news stories, but he may also feed on fear and insecurity to build an audience so he can make more money at times also.
This is really where you want to plant your flag. I would rather be broke and unknown than to be rich and famous because I created a "news" program that I knew lied to and misled the American public in this way. This is really pathetic. If your defense of Glenn Beck is correct, then I think Jim11 is better than Glenn Beck. Jim11 might be misguided and trust the wrong news sources but at least, in his mind, he is trying to make the world aware of a dangerous wrong that needs to be corrected. He's trying to serve the public good. Under your defense, or explanation, of Beck he doesn't have that out. He's a snake oil salesman that knows what he is selling is not medicine. He's feeding lies to people in order to make himself a buck. That's low. That's snake belly low. There are plenty of things that I disagree with. There are plenty of outlets that claim to report unbiased news that don't. That, in my opinion, is worse than admitting your main objective is to entertain and make money.

Don't they ay if you masterbate too much you will go blind. Maybe that is what he is saying.Beck: "I might be going blind"
Not that I'm the :tinfoil: type, but I will not be surprised at all if he is miraculously cured at some point in the near future.
