Actual for real conversation I just had. I'm rubbing my 4 yo daughters head and feel a bump the size of a large watermelon seed. She said it hurts.

I look at it - it's a tick.

'Honey, how long has this bump been here?'

'For a few days'

'Ok when did you first notice it?'

'Sunday.'

Pulled the sucker out and a clump of scalp came with it. 5 days! Disgusting.

Get home from work, been walking around with 20 lbs of rain water in my clothes for the past 4 hours. In the process of taking my shirt off I hit the light fixture, shattering it of course... shards of glass ####### everywhere including the open washing machine with all of my clothes in it...

Anyone know if broken glass can do serious damage to a washing machine? Only thing I can think to do is take all the clothes out, pick out the big pieces, vacuum the little pieces, run it a few times then clean the filter?

another vote for CA

The get together I was at last night included having a psychic / tarot card reader there. She walks in and she's a natural redhead

That lead to a debate

How can someone without a soul look into someone else's?

Vs

Her having no soul helps her read others because there's no interference

Whatsaysyou?

It's probably just a trick to get you to relax while she steals yours.

Something has to be done about the Burger King. How many more sporting events are we going to have to look that creepy goat ####er?

Some good news.

After a Cold War lasting approximately 3 months, during which time he managed to miss track meets (including Districts) and baseball games, my 14 year old finally caved in and sat down to talk to my wife and me about why he acted like such a jerk for so long. We had told him he didn't have to apologize, but he had to be willing to really talk (giving monosyllabic answers doesn't count) and that he couldn't clam up as soon as there was a question he didn't like.

We talked for about 45 minutes this morning and he went from being a grudging participant to saying that he felt stupid for letting this go on for so long. He even offered an unsolicited (and genuine) apology to his step mom, as well as to me.

He even managed to make it to the first of his two baseball tournament games today.

So that's the good news. The bad news is my 12 year old daughter is still a hold out, though she is now going it alone. We'll see how long that lasts...

First day of kayaking today for me. Stayed local for my first trip. Headed over to St. Pete tomorrow: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CG1AkMDXEAATZ9v.jpg:large
That looks like where we kayaked at Ft. Desoto Park. If it wasn't, you definitely need to do that. We saw dolphin and several manatee. My wife broke all the rules and touched the sea cows several times.

We'll be doing it again there next week.
Nice. Was on the other side of the bay at Simmons Park. Will be at Weedon Island tomorrow. Lots of dolphins, manatees and rays there. Too bad I'll be out of town next weekend or I'd meet you. :kicksrock:

Nice work.

The girl won't be able to hold out alone for long.

At a high school graduation. Homer would have exploded already, but this is pretty close to hell, mainly because I have no DNA in this hunt. TPW appreciated.

Update: praying for the sweet release of death. We don't have to waterboard people.

Off to Florida next week.

Three days on St. Petersburg Beach, two days in Naples and three days in Miami Beach.

I imagine I am going to gain about 10 pounds...

Made it to Utah. Took two days. About 12 hours in the car each day (including bathroom, gas, and food breaks). Managed to only buy fast food once, so that was good. The bad news was we got to some stupid bridge in Wyoming only to see a sign that said "bridge washed out, no access" with a gigantic ####### barrier. It was after 10pm at this point, so our only recourse was to turn around until we found a hotel which was 50 miles away. So that was 100 completely wasted miles. Neat.

Same thing happened today but we only ended up about 30 miles out of our way. Now we're here. We are staying in a condo where my in-laws have a time share they never use. We didn't know what to expect. It's two levels with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge master suite, and a fire place. Place is nicer than my house. Considering leaving means driving all the way home we may never leave.

Cool that the payoff was worth it. Geez, that's a lot of driving.
