GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (15 Viewers)

On to happier topics, I'm delighted to say I've never bought a Yeti anything.  Looked at the coolers at REI and couldn't believe the prices.  Sheesh.  We have a not-sure-what-brand one we got at Costco (hi Rude) that is fantastic.

Just bought a coleman marine cooler that is supposed to keep ice for 5 days in 90 degree weather.  It also holds 204 cans..that's 8 cases  Was only $70 on amazon.  Will be using next weekend at the racetrack.

Googling around and supposedly these things keep drinks cold for up to 50 - fifty! - hours?  I mean, we make fun of those using a koozie, and rightly so, but who is making a happy hour drink on Friday that they are hoping to finish before going to bed Sunday?
The best practical use I can think of is when we go to the beach in San Diego.  You're not technically supposed to have booze on the beaches there, so I'll usually throw together something a little on the foofy side that I'll prefer to make last a little while (Tito's and lemonade with a little Pama).  I usually put it in a 32oz water bottle.  Being able to keep that cold for a while longer on the beach wouldn't be awful.  But it's everything I can do as it is to fight off sprouting a vagina while I'm slurping that down.  I don't think a koozie's going to help in any regard.

We pulled pretty much the same deal in San Diego a couple weeks ago. Titos drink mixed in a bottle kept cold in a Yeti soft side cooler and poured into Yeti tumblers for walking around. My excuse is that they're headquartered in Austin so we are shopping local.

Paid $20 for hateful 8 Blu Ray disc yesterday, watched it last night, strongly considering keying it and taking it back for refund.

A few days ago the 16-year-old son of a close friend summited Mt Kilimanjaro.  Pretty damn cool, and I've been really excited for Ethan's adventure and that he did it as a charitable fundraising trip.

This morning, a friend of mine died trying to summit Kilimanjaro.  Not related to my other friend's son's climb, just a coincidence.  It's had me shaken up all day, as Gugu and his wife are the most fit, active, and happy people I know.  They're famous in South Africa as the "The Adventure Couple" and added an Adventure Baby a year ago.

Just now I got off the phone from learning that there was a shooting yesterday, killing two at a medical facility I've been working with on a deal for over two years.

The world confuses and depresses me sometimes.  No TPW necessary for my friend's death.  I'm just trying to make sense of things that aren't sensible, by typing this out.
I'm here in Tanzania right now...curious if Gugu did the 5 day route (the one most likely to cause altitude sickness)?

Yes, I guess he was.  They set out on July 13 and were supposed to summit today, on Mandela Day.

ETA:  I understand from reading something on his Facebook page that the rest of the group (excluding his wife, who descended with him) summited and haven't been informed yet of the news.

ETA2:  Wait, that's six days - 13-18.  So I guess not.

it's my anniversary.  we exchanged no gifts.  we casually hung out all day.  had some killer sex.  made dinner together.  planned and dreamt about our next vacation.  things are good.

After this, San Diego did this.
Wow, I either didn't know about that or knew and forgot.  That stinks.  I'll never forget flying down to San Diego on weekends using frequent flier miles to visit a buddy.  Cooler of cold beer right on Pacific or Ocean Beach, throwing the football, watching the most beautiful girls in the world walk by.  That was the life.

Helping a friend with a resume.  Need a little help.  Is it still best practice to have everything on one page or are multiple pages expected now?

One page unless they ask for a CV or it's executive-level.
