GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (20 Viewers)

Just got 3 miles in and about to pour a drink. I feel like Bentley. Maybe I'll get a pedicure or something.
It's a hard life that somebody has to look pretty doing. Worked out and presented some market research to insurance agents this morning. Going to spend a couple hours drinking with them at a PGA tournament this afternoon. No mani/pedi on the agenda...yet.

I had two DWIs in a 3 month span back in 1983. Luckily for me, data collection wasn't very efficient then and neither time in court knew about the other offense. I got off clean on #1.

#2 was more interesting and I didn't know the dynamics behind it for years. My parents only knew about DWI The Second and hired their personal attorney for me. Turns out he and the judge I was going in front of had been assistant DAs(?) together years before. Also turns out my lawyer's kid's fiancé had been killed by a drunk driver a couple of months before my court date. This judge would make Roy Bean look like Barney The Dinosaur. If he had a guillotine on the bench, I wouldn't have been surprised. He scared me to death and eventually gave me 5 days (reduced from 90) and $250 (I think - reduced by $1k).

So, I did 5 days in jail where I had to fake not being good at Tonk over Labor Day weekend in Cambridge, MD 1983

My mom told me a few years ago they were trying to teach me a lesson.

20 year old grandson of a family friend was riding a motorcycle with his girlfriend when a 16 year old girl texting on her phone while driving ran them over from behind and killed him. She hit them, ran them over and trapped the girlfriend under the car.

That's exactly why I have no interest in motorcycles. Too many stupid drivers out there.

Holy ####.  I have a similar experience with the jail time in the exact same year.  Ended up having to spend 3 days in the Montgomery Ohio county jail prior to moving out of town for a new job.

It was a very large cell with the metal picnic type tables and bunk beds.  Was lucky as it was basically indigent guys in there for small amount of drugs, repeat public intoxication, dwi, etc.  Didn't get a feeling that anyone wanted to terrorize me.  One big fat black guy kept saying "boy be doin' flavors about one of the more messed up guys.  I think that meant he was messed up ...but still don't really know today.

Two stale donuts for breakfast, baloney on white for lunch and soybeany sloppy joes for dinner is what I can remember.  We played cards and watched tv (lights out at 11pm or so).  Open toilet was no fun.

It did teach me a lesson.

Never thought about it that way, but yeah, that makes sense.  What sticks out the most to you from that experience?
Fright.

I don't know if the people running the jail knew I was easy meat or I was just lucky, but they put me into a cell with a dude my own age. I remember him asking me "why y'alls hair get so oily?" I know that's random, butt that's what I recall the most.

The "Tonk" thing was funny, because I was really good at it but I lost on purpose.

Is "bueno" a good witch, or a bad witch?  He's apparently been absent from this board for close to a decade and just showed up in the Hillary Clinton thread.

I always liked Bueno. Interesting guy. IIRC, does something geology related for his job? (I may be pulling that out of my ###). Lives at least part time in Mexico. The people who frequent the political threads may not like him very much, but I liked him.
