I'm in charge of the kids the next 3 days.  My wife is taking a ###### class.  She's a physical therapist and apparently there's a whole discipline around 'giners.

Mr. krista and I love this local mostly-beer joint that doesn't serve food but encourages you to bring in food from elsewhere and also has a big book of delivery menus for you to use.  Last night we got Thai, and both ordered curries forgetting that the beer joint offers plastic cutlery and napkins but nothing in the way of plates or bowls.  This is what our meals looked like upon arrival.  Partway through we realized we had each taken a different approach to how to eat this.  So, wise denizens of the GMTAN, would you:

1.  Spoon curry into the rice container, then eat out of rice container.

-OR-

B.  Spoon rice into the curry container, then eat out of curry container.

We didn't actually argue about which was correct - I could see reasons for each - but we naturally went in opposite directions.

important clarifying question: if you have curry left over, will you save it for later?

Car's worth about $12k.  Stupid insurance company negotiated the $7800 repair estimate down to $6200, so they're going to fix it rather than total it. I mean, the car's paid off, and I had no intention of getting a new one.  But why do I feel like I'm somehow getting screwed here?

But you can't keep rice in the fridge and use it later.  It sucks the next day.  You keep the curry pristine and just eat curry out of the rice box, then throw away the box and extra rice when you save the extra curry.

 
Surprisingly, leftover rice freezes quite successfully. Put it in single serving size sandwich bags and microwave on demand.

God I miss rice/carbs/enjoying life

I know buddy, I keep trying you but you're always working and then you try me and I've got too many damn kids!  My wife flies to Michigan with all the kids on August 3rd.  I leave August 10th.  There are 7 days where I have no responsibilities.  Saturday/Sunday are booked, but pick any other day right now and let's mark this in stone.  Thursday Aug 4?  Hit up some breweries?  

 
Rice is far less exciting than corn dogs, soft boiled eggs and curry.

Been making a lot of short ribs lately. They are very exciting

 
Getting replies will make it less pathetic that I'm spending my birthday in my underwear, on the couch, posting on a fantasy football message board.

Well, yeah, I guess if you're a little girl and don't eat the whole thing right away.

 
Also, I'm going to Seattle Aug 6th via the mighty BOLT BUS, staying with a friend and going to the Mariner's game at 1pm on Sunday.  Any of you crazy peeps want to meet up after the game downtown?  I take the bus back at 8pm, so unless the game goes 17 innings, I should have some time for beers and hijinx around 3ish or 4ish.  

 
My phone's been ringing off the hook. Might have something to do with me foolishly providing my phone number to a website offering Vision Insurance.

I need glasses pretty bad at this point. Every couple years I'll get an exam and order some online and wear them about 10 days a year. 

To get some I think would work well for me from a local shop, its about $700 plus frames.

Seems to me most vision insurance only covers about 40% of the cost but only costs about $100 a tear, so seems like a decent deal? Advise?

Congrats! I had looked at the calendar before I asked, but it was hard to tell if you were accepting guests yet. I'm thinking maybe a Monday through Friday, which leaves your weekend spots open. I can fly direct from Dulles to Houston. 

Do you have a property manager who also doubles as a transport/tour guide like @krista4 had with Julio, or are your guests fending for themselves?

Not at all. You know me I'll talk about anything.

I have a guy that I could probably get to pick you up, especially if you fly into Hobby (45 min) vs. IAH (80-200 minutes depending on time of day/traffic). He's a nice guy, but awfully fond of conversation.

Depending on when you want to go, I may go down and join you/give you a ride.
