I had a miniature donkey once.  Once.  It was cool for about 2 months until he decided he wanted to go somewhere else.  I've got fences that I'm proud of that'll hold back 2000 pound bulls that want to kill each other.  Those fences were mere inconveniences to little Paco.  That miniature heathen decided he wanted to spend his days trying to get with the full size donkeys in order to rip the other male's throats out then rape the females and run from me from dawn til dusk for most of a week straight until he finally made a mistake and let me catch him again.  The regular donkeys were traumatized beyond what I can describe here.  He never wore out, and he never stopped.  I then had to find a place to keep him for a month or so until someone decided it'd be fun to keep him with their horses.  Your name's not Dan is it?

Austin is pretty awesome. I want to thank Abe, Kev, Bentley, and especially Cos for showing me some true hospitality down here. Much appreciated. I hope I can pay it forward and meet up with everybody again soon.  We have a great community here.

Use that to tip the guys from Allied when you move to West Mercer.
We did give a large % of it back to the bartender lady who blew on her hands before pulling the tabs to ensure we had good luck.

On another topic, there are a lot more miniature donkey owners in the GMTAN than I expected.

I grew up reading Thrasher magazine and skating around Huntsville Texas wishing I could move to California and skate on the beach.  So Thursday I cleared my schedule and I'm going to the skate park at Venice Beach.  I'm 39.5 years old. I may break my arms, ankles and/or neck but I'm going to skate the bowl at Venice beach.  Because #### all. That's why.
That's cool, just hope you know you're going viral Friday.

Whoa...

just found out that my youngest kid's girlfriend's dad is a pro photographer.  Based out of LA I guess.  My kid, who is a yuge fan of the whole dogtown/zboys thing says that the dad has a bunch of photos in his house of photodad and most of the 70s-80s LA skater guys.

I'm guessing Paco wasn't gelded.

I like this Paco.

Getting caught up here...

Sorry to hear, Stoneys :sadbanana:

No experience with mini-donkeys, but a GB of mine used to have a miniature horse (and a mastiff that was almost as big)

2.09 or whatever  - Peccary :snicker:

I assume Franklin's barbeque has a crazy line even on a wednesday. Any other redommended joint for bbq I can go for an early lunch if i need to leave for the airport by 12:30ish that wont be hours of waiting?  I passed Iron Works last night that smelled good.

you know how when you were growing up there was always that one kid who had a knack for sports, or school, or getting the cheerleaders.. i'm that guy, except i've got a knack for predicting when an argument is about to happen. not because of some preternatural gift BUT BECAUSE I LEARN FROM HISTORY.

kid's school picture day tomorrow.

thinking of heading in to work around 6 AM tomorrow so as to avoid the coming ####storm as my wife battles the kids over how their hair should look.

should be a good time

If you aren't already in line at Franklin's I don't think you are getting any. There are several newer places that are supposed to be great. One of the locals can let you know what they are.

Authentic artisnal BBQ snobs will scoff at it, but Rudy's Country Store & BBQ is damn good for a (small) chain. You are from the Midwest, it is all real Texas BBQ to you. There are several in the area.

Coopers and Iron Works are close by. Not sure of the line situations there. I can sneak out at 1030-11.

La Barbecue of Lamberts downtown.

He has already had lunch and is on a plane, I think.
True. Went to Iron Works.  Pretty good stuff.

On my second plane now waiting for boarding completion. 40 min flight Austin to Dallas had TVs in every seat; 3 hours Dallas to philly, no tvs, outlets, or wifi, even in first. Phone at 30% and no movies downloaded. Im ####ed. First world problems.

bbq is over rated.  i've been to oklahoma joes in kc.  it was great, especially the burnt ends.  but waiting in line for hours, for food, for any food, is ridiculous.

just got an email from my kid's teacher. 3rd grade. snapshot of an addition equation she did at school today.

used to be addition was one number on top of another and a plus sign. then you added them together.

now there are boxes and dashes and thought bubbles. i give up.

Good luck with that...the "new math"= Hammurabi's code, as interpreted by the Sumerians.  True story.

Please take a picture and post a link.

New math came out in the early 60s, and it was incredibly, ridiculously stupid then - really ####ed me up.

Now its New, Newer, Newest Improved Now with Thought Bubbles.  Poor kids.

Thanks - I saw that on imgur within the last couple of days.  Wonder if this is it (no thought bubbles).
I don't know about thought bubbles, but I have seen math assignments where kids are asked to give an opinion on the solution to math problems.

Can asking them about their feelings be far behind?

"How does the quadratic equation make you feel about yourself, Hunter?"

common core is the ####### worst.  worse than than waiting in line for 3 hours for bbq

i have told my daughter that i will fight any teacher that marks her off for not using one of the ####ed up 'new' methods.  if the answer is right, it's right.  some of the tests have questions that ask the kid to use the number line method, the friendly 10 method, the 100 chart method or some other stupid ####.

Woah, somebody has a case of the negative twenty five squared.
