My mom is getting her asssssss kicked by an awful disease called Scleroderma over the last year, which is robbing her of energy, strength and can be very painful.  As such, I try to return calls or texts immediately to see what she might need.  Today she texted me to call her when I had a minute, and so I gulped hard, picked up the phone and called, expecting more bad news about her condition.

She picked up on the first ring and the tone of her voice was very sad, no enthusiastic "hello" which is a hallmark of my mom.  I said "Mom, everything okay?  what's up?"  She sighed, took a deep breath and said "Packy is dead".  

Baffled, I just sat there in silence until she said "Hello?".  I said, "I'm still here, I just don't know who Packy is?  Is that a relative?  A friend...."

"PACKY IS THE FAMOUS ELEPHANT AT THE ZOO, FORREST!"   :mellow:   
"HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO PACKY IS???"
"HELLO?"

"Mom, I'm sorry for your loss.  Can I go back to work now?"

I got some weird relatives, man.

There is some saying about apples and trees that I can't quite recall that seems applicable.

Man, I was really hoping her elderly neighbor was Pakistani or something.

Why did they change the names?  Southwest Texas State is in San Marcos, right?  God, that's a cool little town.  I remember rafting on the Rio Frio and seeing under water scuba divers below.  Good times.

I definitely like under water scuba divers more than the above ground kind. 

Yes, that is in San Marcos. And it is a cool town.

Get a Mohu Leaf for like $50 for an indoor antenna. It can travel with you. Otherwise, use the WiFi and your accounts already in-use for the rest. Your only cost outlay is whatever your internet service goes for. Might have to give some stuff up, but I found I don't miss anything I can't get all that much
