GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (24 Viewers)

It’s 6 am, and I’m on a plane.  We’re still on the ground, and literally every person other than me has ordered an alcoholic beverage.  Is this a GMTAN-sponsored flight?  Everyone is going to be so drinks.

I love airports at 5am, before the sun comes up and any of the stores are open.  I also LOVE being on an airplane and waiting on the runway.  So much fun, especially because the only reason I was ever on an airplane at that hour is so I can get to the office/client in time to have a full day of work.  The flight is just a commute.  Good times.

Well, you could have been heading to meet your fundamentalist Christian, non-drinking stepmother in San Antonio.

(I complain, but she’s a wonderful person.)

I have furniture for everything but bedrooms, so thanksgiving is a go if any NW peeps want to stop by.  We'll be frying turkeys, drinking and watching football all day, with no families in sight.

Very drinks at the bar right now. There's new blood here. They might make it.

None of the new blood is particularly interested in me, of course.

How late is this bedroom furniture?  Unreal.

I'll be in mammoth. :pickle:   they just got dumped on!  Gonna be epic!

A gb of mine sent me a cryptic message the other day stating he couldn’t do a tentatively planned Vegas trip early next year.  He later disclosed that he and his wife are currently separated.  This completely caught me off guard and blames himself for something that caused it.  So I am taking him out to lunch today at some brew pub near a good microbrewery.  Admittedly this was somewhat selfish of me to pick this place, but there has to be something in it for me, right?  I think at the very least he can get drinks and maybe enjoy himself for a moment before returning to his turmoil.  Did I use that term correctly?   :oldunsure:

Selfish? You bet.  :P

Sounds like Vegas is just what your gb needs. Sixteen days and counting for me.

had a dream that two guys stole a tree that was exactly 77 feet tall.  They strapped it to the tops of two separate cars and drove off with it, which worked pretty well until they had to make a turn.  Then they couldn’t coordinate the two cars and started going back and forth, bashing the tree into all sorts of stuff.  The cops never came but they drew a big crowd of people watching them and shouting advice and yelling at them how stupid they were.  This went in for quite a while until the tree got stuck in a house and they gave up, left their cars and walked away.

You want two dudes at the same time. /bfred

Last week I went to the Fresh Thyme up the  street to get a salad and perhaps some soup.  They have a great salad bar and often have chicken & spaetzle soup that is divine.  Loves me some soups this time of year. As I'm walking in I see this gal in the bakery looking in my direction.  (If you don't have a FT, it's a relatively small grocery store).  I smile in her direction because I am an attention whore, as you know, particularly so when it come to women.  Make my way to the salad bar and she comes over and starts making conversation.  "I love your tie, it goes great with your complexion".   I look down because I don't even remember what tie I put on.  It's mostly orange.  I think to myself, what am I a fcuking pumpkin?!   She was an offdee 5, around my age. I smiled, said thanks and left.

Wednesday I went to Cal's school to drop something off.  The front office knows me  as CSB thanks to my gmail address and they call me as such. Hilarious and embarrassing. "Hey! CSB!!" is the way I'm greeted.  One of the teachers there, an offdee 6.5, starts chatting me up.  No idea what her name is and she isn't even one of Cal's teachers.  She just always seems to find me when I'm there.  Addresses me as Mr. H which I ####### hate. I've asked all of them multiple times from the principal on down to call me Bob but they just won't do it.   Except the admins of course.  What a little life I've carved out here. She finally leaves and I go to adjoining conference room to drop off stuff.  I hear one of the chicks say "damn, is he single?" to have the other reply "are you kidding me, he doesn't want old gals like us".  They are probably 5 years younger than me and she's right.

Then on Thursday we have an event down at Busch stadium.  I'm unusually very early and replying to e-mails when there's a tap on my shoulder.  I turn around to get a big hug from this hottie that works there.  Offdee 7 easy.  I first met her when my GB was throwing out the first pitch before a game and I was out on the field with him wearing purrito shirt.  I then ran into her again, I swear it feels like I live in a town of 300 instead of 3 million, because she lives in the same lofts as a gal my buddy was dating.  I mean it was uneventful.  She recognized me as purrito guy, we laughed and it was over. Of course Mrs. SLB was there. This time however she felt like initiating and giving me a long, intimate, hug.

As great as it felt I hoped that some of "upper management" saw it because i'm sick. By that I mean I want to help the younger folks in the organization and I've offered many times. I don't want it to be a full time job but people helped me and I want to give back. My offers are ignored though. So I do it when I can, give them some pointers. I think management is scared of me and they should be.  They don't know what they are doing and I want to help but they are too busy trying to protect their jobs. When we sold the company and we were introduced the VP said in a full company setting "I can't believe we have the great Bob H on our team now".  I'm average at everything in life but know people and business.   I should be happy.  Nobody tells me what to do. I can show up or not.  I make good money. It's just so unsatisfying.

Anyway, I think God wants me to have a side piece or  two.

Not sure if im supposed to like that post or not, Bob.

Congrats on the magnetic, charming personality.

Sorry you're feeling unfulfilled. Maybe find some place you can volunteer or something?

:) It is what it is GB.  Like it or not, just some things that have happened recently and tiny look into my soul.

I've considered volunteering but I'm busy as ####.  That's why, LAM!!!!, I love donating to people that dedicate their lives to helping others.  Maybe it's a cop out but my boys miss me at as is and I can't wait for until I see them every day,  I was out Thursday night with friends doing magic football stuff when my phone rang. "####" I said out loud seeing it was my house phone on the caller ID.  It was just Cal who wanted to tell me goodnight and he loved me.  Then he handed the phone to Dyl who first asked if I was making any money on my FF team.  He's so much like me, scum.  I shouldn't like it because I don't want him to be like me but he is and I love it. He said he loved me and missed me and goodnight.   It was best thing that happened to me this year. I had to step outside for a smoke because I started to tear up.  Yeah I'm a #####.

I talk about Cal a lot but you know what's cool about Dylan?  Just a peek into his personality. Whenever the ice cream man comes around he's there, like I'm sure most of us were at 10, but with his own money and he always buys the rest of family something too. That's cool.

You're right, he is a lot like you.

Kids are the best of times and the blorst of times. He gets it though. He actually listens to me as I try to guide him away from making the same mistakes I've made. Every parent right? He and Cal are what keeps me going. Jealous of him because he listens to me. Popular and has girls knocking on the door almost every day looking for him. That wasn't me at 10, jack.

Nice tie, homo.
