I'm constantly amazed at how much lower the Bills can manage to go. Having a player decide to retire and leave the stadium at halftime is certainly a novel new one.

I just saw this.  WTF?  What a loser.
Don’t worry. The raiders will pick him up before the weeks out

Some genius loaded our fee schedule incorrectly, so we are entering our second day of near-paralysis. We received a panicky email at 3PM yesterday, along with a spreadsheet with almost 2000 lines on it. They all had to be put into suspended animation by the end of the day, so they wouldn't go out with incorrect prices. That got done, but charges continue to pile up, as the Clinical Enterprise (lol) has over 130 physicians. My guess they will get this resolved over the weekend, and management will insist we get completely caught up on Monday, which is our busiest day anyway.

TLDR My job is something I have to do in order to go to Vegas twice a year.
The problem has been resolved going forward, but the hundreds of claims stuck in the system will have to be fixed one at a time.

Also, my work partner has been approved for vacation time during my Vegas trip. I thought I had plenty of time to request the time off, but now the flights and hotels I have already booked are in jeopardy. Very stabby now. Enjoy your Monday, everyone!

But wait, there's more! About 45 minutes ago, we were informed the all-clear we were given this morning was total bullspit. All hands on deck, again.  :wall:

CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING SUCH A CHOOCH THAT YOU THINK MAKING FUN OF THE WAY SOMEONE YOU WORK WITH PRONOUNCES A WORD IS THE ABSOLUTE PEAK OF HILARITY?!!?!??!?!!!  :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

CAN YOU IMAGINE IT BEING SO FUNNY THAT YOU HAVE TO MOCK THEM TO THEIR FACE ABOUT IT!??!?!?! WHEN YOU'RE IN YOUR 40s!??!?!??!?

THAT WOULD BE HILARIOUS!!! RIGHT!??! RIGHT!??!!!!

IF YOU WENT TO A CO-WORKER AND SAID "HEY @Officer Pete Malloy HOW'S WORKING WITH SUZY HENDERSY TODAY!?!??! (when her name is actually pronounced Suzy Hennesy)  :pokey:  RIGHT?!?!! HER NAME IS HENDERSY! RIGHT!??! RIGHT!?? :lmao:   :lmao: :lmao:  THAT"S HOW YOU PRONOUNCE IT, RIGHT!??! :lmao:  HEY, FURLEY, COME HERE!! (to co-worker) SAY HER NAME AGAIN! SAY HENDERSY! :lmao:   SHE CAN'T EVEN SAY IT RIGHT! :lmao:  "

that's absolutely what adults in middle age do to their elder friends and co-workers, right?!?!?!??! especially when it's not received as humorous or welcomed, RIGHT???!?!??

:deadhorse:

This young British girl on AGT that was hand picked by Simon Cowell from some other British show shouldn't be on America's Got Talent. Unreal. I'm livid. I'm gonna go flip some cars.

I survived my trip to Winchester, Va.  Roughly 42 hours total.  Beers and burgers with friends was worth the trip.  I guess I’m not Florence support material (we didn’t get the contract).

You're better off. The chairman of Sanderson Farms was on CNBC this morning, talking about the "composting" of their 200K dead chickens.  :X

I managed to salvage my Vegas trip by moving it up two weeks. It's going to cost the equivalent of $45 more in airfare (but it's all miles, so who cares), but I'm going to save about $300 on the rooms. :bowtie:

woke up around 4 this morning to one of the cats (there are two) howling and clawing at the door. got up, opened the door & let him in. he immediately pushed the door shut and started howling at it :hot:

so i opened the door again. he walked out and pulled the door shut. then started howling at it.  :hot: :hot: :hot:

mother####er! i open it again. leave the door open this time.

apparently not amused he went in to our bathroom and opened doors under the sink. they're weighted, so swing shut if not fully opened. he likes opening them just a bit & then letting go so that they swing shut.. thus making a thudding sort of noise that wakes my wife up.

starting to hate cats

you may have seen this on social media

'Cat Grandpa' goes viral after animal shelter shares photos of volunteer falling asleep with cats

this guy was my HS Spanish teacher. despite being a priest, he was a funny and nice guy. Freshman year, homecoming day, the marching band walked through the halls of school... they were camouflage for the seniors who burst out of the crowd to snatch up freshmen and make them, among other things, push pennies down the hallway with their noses.

i ducked in to this guy's classroom to hide until the storm passed

I may have posted this before, but as I got pizza again tonight, I again felt shame. Whenever I order food for takeout and the credit card slip comes, I feel awkward when it comes to the tip line. I mean, tipping for takeout ks dumb, right? But writing a zero on that line while the cashier watches makes me feel like a jerk. But if you leave it blank, that's potentially inviting trouble, right?

I really should just start paying in cash.

Unless the place is all takeout, takeout is a pain for the people that work in a restaurant.   Tip them.

As the old man used to say.... ‘don’t like your tip? Well, here’s another one. Get out of the industry’

Take out gets maybe $2-$3 regardless of what the bill is and that’s the places I know I’ll be a repeat customer at.

Put the dog down on Thursday.

It was rough, but it had to be done. I do thank her for pretty much sticking to the plan. She was my son’s 6th birthday present. This was done knowing full well that 12 years is a good run for a dog, thus when my son left for college, me and mom wouldn’t be left behind to take care of son’s dog because I really never wanted to get one in the first place. Of course, over the years she became a part of the family and I did grow to love that girl. To the point that I was a blubbering, tearful mess at the vet..... and maybe a day or two leading up to that.

Anyway..... She’d been quickly deteriorating since Labor Day. Last weekend, my son made his first trip back home from college. He hadn’t stepped foot in the house in a month. When him walking through that door didn’t perk her up, I knew it was time.

Amazed at how much she’s, for the lack of a better term, haunting me. Get out of bed and out of habit tip toe through the dark bedroom so I don’t trip over her. Accidentally drop food on kitchen floor and have to pick it up myself!!?!??? What’s that crap? Close the bathroom door so she doesn’t get in there and drink out of the toilet.

I’m hoping that vodka makes that go away.

I'm not tipping the cashier at the pizza parlor. Should I tip the kid at the register at McDonalds too?
Is the kid at McDonalds waiting tables or tending bar and having to spend time on you instead of customers that actually tip?  Bartenders at the place I worked before law school had to deal with takeouts, regardless of how busy we were.  Think we didn’t remember who didn’t tip? Enjoy your food.

The kid at McDonald's is also not making below minimum wage as is allowed in positions with tipped employees.  And in many restaurants (as I know you know) the cooks can also be paid less based on a tip-sharing arrangement, and they have to work just as hard to prepare the to-go orders as the dine-in ones.  Not to mention that someone takes their time out to take the order, package it all up, take payment, etc.  The difference between dining in and taking out is minimal in terms of the work the staff has to put in.  Sure, you can tip less than 20% to account for the difference, but tipping nothing is absolutely befuddling to me.

I'd argue that's it's MORE work to get take-outs together than it is for serving in-house (all things being equal). True - once it's done, it's done. But staff also has the work on that meal in a much more concentrated time frame (not to mention, boxing all that #### up), whereas in-house dining tasks are more spread out. AND, knowing that they're probably not gonna get tipped by many folks doesn't make it any better.
