Go Pro Basics - HELP! (1 Viewer)

I need some help. I ordered a Go Pro Hero 3 (silver edition) earlier in the week to film a HUGE cross country meet this afternoon. The thing just arrived and I have no time to read the manual as we have a hour and a half + drive there and are leaving in about 15 minutes (and will have some time to read up on replies once we arrive). I will charge it in the car and am downloading the App for my iPhone now. I bought a 32MB card for it. First question is about how many minutes will this hold? Any other need to know info? I know the iPhone can be used as a monitor and I packed an external battery just in case. THANKS!!

And, I apologize if I missed a thread on this already, a quick search found nothing.

Hey GB.... It's super easy to use. A few random thoughts (I have the 1st gen and the 4th gen).

  • The iphone app sucks. Waste of time.
  • Are you wearing it or putting it on your son to wear during the race?
  • The head mount is the best one, IMO. Second best is the chest mount.
  • The wide angle mode limits how much you'll be able to see at a distance - these things are designed to be up close and personal. I'm not sure if the 3 has the narrow mode setting, but you can extend the view a bit by setting it to narrow (easily found in the settings).
  • I'm going to assume you got a 32GB card; 32MB ain't gettin' you very far  That should be plenty for recording the meet.

:thanks: and ya, GB not MB. I ordered an attachment bundle but it did not arrive I wanted to us the head mount. I am using a shoe lace to have it around my neck for today and plan on just holding it. This meet is insane. Over 8000 college, high school and middle school runners.

Since ned seems knowledgeable. I used one in February. I just got around to unloading it into my computer. A lot of.it was in almost slow motion. Kind of ruined a lot of moments. Any thoughts

You'll run out of battery before you run out of memory.

Just make sure you have it set to video and not pictures.

I would suggest not recording one long video. Be sure to start and stop - it makes editing easier.
