Going into week 5 Best has 5 TDs (1 Viewer)

Agreed with the above. Best is a top 7-10 RB right now depending on format. Why would you trade that for a top 15-20 WR like DJax? Why would you trade him for anything less than a top RB value? That's not selling high, that's selling low before the other show drops because you fear injury - the same fear anyone you try to trade him to will have.

I was the one who had the offer of Best for D Jackson. I never really considered the deal, just mentioned that it was what I had been offered. That was before this week though.Personally, I would not trade him for another RB of top value unless someone was willing to give up another top 10 guy. I can't imagine them doing that though, unless they are a Lions fan. I would consider dropping him for a Top WR, but again, the offer would need to be great. My situation may be a little different though, since I have two of the top three RB's in my leagues scoring (McCoy and Jackson), along with Best, Felix Jones, and Daniel Thomas as my flex options.

He's a boom or bust.
He's actually been remarkably consistent. He's had two monster games, two good games yardage wise, and an average game. Jahvid hasn't been "shut down" at any point this season, which is what makes him so valuable. If the running game isn't going well or the Lions get behind he'll still be involved. Players like Michael Turner or LeGarrette Blount will need a short TD plunge to salvage a day if their teams are behind or they aren't breaking off big runs.

So what are you guys trying to get for him now? Coming into this game, I had an offer of Best for Desean Jackson, but I'm thinking that I should try for a little more now. Maybe something along the lines of Nicks, Steve Smith, or Roddy White?
Best is a low end RB1 right now. You would be getting ripped.

He's a boom or bust. But that explosiveness you saw last night on a good offense can win you championships. Someone mentioned here that they got an offer DeSean Jackson for Best. In my opinion they are both the same. Boom or bust type players with extreme high upside.
Go Bears!I don't think you can possibly move Best for what he's worth. You're looking at a top-12 RB with top-5 potential; Desean is a top-12 WR with top-5 potential, which is nice but not nearly as valuable. At this point you'd have to get Michael Turner, MJD, Beanie Wells to get adequate value, or Ray Rice/Ryan Mathews if it's PPR. You're probably not going to get that unless he has another big game, and if he has another big game, do you really want that?

I traded him for Mike Wallace last week and am very happy with it based on my roster. I could have traded Beanie instead but didn't like the threat of Williams/Harrison coming in at the goalline and that he wasn't getting 20+ carries. Nights like last night it doesn't matter but he doesnt always break the big one.

Best is a lot like McCoy. He's not the focal point of the offense, and he has the skills to benefit from that. Plus, he's a part of the passing game. You don't use him for 30 carries, but he's a big presence in both phases of the offense.

The more I think about it, the more I think I should just hang on. With a starting RB group of Lesean McCoy, Fred Jackson, and Jahvid Best in PPR, I don't think it really matters that I'm just starting Vincent Jackson with two of Moss, Harvin, Manningham, etc. behind him.

The only things that keep coming back into my mind is that I was having these same thoughts last year when he blew up in week 2. I held, and he was useless after the turf toe hit.

This is the type of value I'd be hoping for -- a lower end WR1 with WR1 potential. I'd move Best for Wallace in dynasty (I have enough RB depth to allow for this) but not much else except for a comparable WR.
