Going to an amusement park on Friday, July 3rd - Thoughts? (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
Like a lot of people, this year I have the Friday before the Fourth of July off from work. Was thinking about going to an amusement park. Thing is, I'm guessing it's going to be packed. But I've heard mixed reports on this. While I do hear from people saying expect for it to be insanely crowded, I've also heard people say that it might not be as crowded as I think.

Anyone have experience going to a park before a major holiday? I think we're going regardless. May have to buy one of those speed passes, if need be.

Great Adventure?

Is this like when jersey people talk about "the shore" in that we're just supposed to know what amusement park you're going to?

As long as you dont plan on riding Laff Trakk, you will be fine. That line will be absurdly long and not worth the wait.

We haven't decided just yet. Probably Great Adventure, but maybe Hersheypark. Our daughter is out of town for the week, so it will just be my fiance and me. We love roller coasters and every time we've gone to an amusement park, we don't get to ride because one of the kids is afraid of a certain ride.

We're going to Kings Island this year as a family in early August. But this is just a day for us two. And since it's just us two, we thought we might splurge and get a speed pass.

Yeah, I love that place, too. But we're going to the Nati to see my brother. I lived there for about 7 years and loved KI, so it'll be fun to take the fam there.

Get on Craigslist and 'rent' a kid in a wheelchair. Bingo, front of every line.

I'm not really sure what section to post your add in...I guess Men seeking Men? (As boys don't have their own section, which seems pretty racist to me.)

Example of an add you could post that should work well:

"Middle aged man seeks boy 6-12, as long as you are small. Have my own wheelchair; will take you for day of fun! Candy and ice cream possible if you are good. Open minded a requirement."

You see you never mention you are actually going to commit fraud online, as authorities might frown on it. And the last thing you want to do is get the authorities attention. That's why you state in the add they must be 'open minded', as they will have to pretend to be sick.

Love Hershey. Love how they measure the kids once, and give them the band for their height, so it's easy to get on all of their rides.

Buy the fast pass no matter how much it costs.

So we went to Great Adventure and from 10 to about 2, the place was fairly empty. It was nice. No lines for most coasters. Then we got in a line for Nitro and it took 2 hours to get on. The place was mobbed. I'm guessing a lot of people had to work a half day or something.

Even the Flash Pass people had to wait in long lines. It was insane. We ended up leaving around 4. As we left, people were still filing in like the park had just opened.

I will never go to a park the day before a holiday again.

Been that way at least 4 years. We take the kids at least twice a summer.

I've gone every year for the last 10 plus years and I don't remember my daughter ever getting an armband. I could just be forgetting it

We were there yesterday. It's not required. About 100 yards from the front gate there is a kiosk where kids can get measured and get the armband. When we saw a huge line for it, we opted not... and our three kids (12, 10, and 7) had no problems riding without an armband.

yep just read that that's what that guest service area was for we never got a wristband. we never bothered waiting in that line because we knew what rides my daughter could go on and never tried to cheat it.

she's pumped she thinks she'll be a Jolly Rancher this year and can go on the final two rides
