Going to games isn't that much fun (1 Viewer)

I went to a 49er game at their new stadium a month ago and the whole experience sucked ### big time. here is a bulleted list of reasons why

  • everything is corporate. welcome to levi's stadium! here's your complimentary salesforce.com 49er mug! Watch the Pepsi Instant Replay on the AT&T Jumbotron!
  • it was hot that day and it was very uncomfortable. candlestick used to be cold which is much better
  • somehow the traffic after the game was worse than at the stick. it's a real accomplishment that they were able to make it worse than that. you get to your car and sit for 45 minutes before anything even starts moving. no thanks.
  • this whole experience costs hundreds of dollars at least.
I wont be back anytime soon.
Sounds about right. The stadium's architect also made a few interesting choices, if the pics on TV don't lie. Not so much on my list to visit. I floved Candlestick.

I used to have access to basically any game at the United Center. I much preferred NBA over NHL. Most of this is due to just being a bigger fan of basketball than hockey. Plus, when you have good seats, I really think there's more to be gained seeing basketball up close than hockey.

Used to get to go to 4 or 5 Bullets/Wizards games a year and the seats were not even ten rows off the court, I thought it was absolutely awesome. The athleticism of these guys up close was insane (although I am sure that's how the other pro leagues are too). My favorite live sport if the seats are good, and I generally strongly prefer football to basketball.

Don't know anything about hockey but have been to a couple games, really liked that as well. Very fast paced and was enjoyable even with limited understanding of what's going on. It's nice how they don't have as many stoppages as the other sports.

Baseball - fun if it's not too hot outside, felt really slow to me but can be nice if you embrace that aspect. Was able to go to a few AAA games and the play seemed decent, and as a bonus tickets were like $6.

Football is my favorite sport by far and the only one I follow all that closely, but actually my least favorite to watch live...I feel like it's hard to get a seat where you can both tell what's going on and also see everything happening at once, if that makes sense? I'm also a Redskins fan and I found the Fed Ex experience to be pretty bad, that seems to be a pretty popular opinion. I strongly prefer being able to watch games on TV and have redzone on as well and track all my fantasy scores.

Baseball can just be too damn long. The average game was 3:08 last year but, of course, it's not uncommon for a game to be over 4 hours.

I think going to any game pretty much sucks and will now only go if I am taking the kid for a life experience. I am person who likes to drink during my sports so going to one of these always costs over $100 plus whatever cost the ticket and transportation is. Then you have to throw in the possibility that your team loses and it seems like a waste.

I might change my mind if I lived within a close cab ride of a stadium or arena and had a lot of money to burn, but unfortunately for me that is not the case.

Hockey is absolutely awesome to watch live. You can't believe how fast the action really is unless you're actually there. That, and the action is conisistent, no time outs. I always find it amazing to how the teams change on the fly.

Solution: line changes for basketball imo.

Two 15+ minute breaks, though. Nobody thinks twice about it since that's the way hockey has always been, but imagine if they tried that in another sport. The fans would revolt.

You need those breaks to get beer.

And to emit beer.

MLB is good if you are with the right group and the game is good. Otherwise, I find the sport to be a bit boring, even in person. I like the ambiance and the warm weather and the cold beers, but by and large, baseball is better on TV.
Could not disagree more with this. Baseball on TV can be unwatchable at times. At the stadium on a nice day, cold beers, pretzels/dogs... Such an awesome relaxing 3 hours of life.
Yeah, your right...recent playoff baseball was awful TV watching.

You can't bring the playoffs into this. All major playoff sports are worth watching on TV.Also, imagine how awesome those games were in person. Sheeeeit.

College games at a storied program are just incredibly fun. The whole day with tailgating, etc is just a blast. Great stadium atmosphere, bands, tons of hot chicks -- just great.

NFL is basically the exact opposite experience now. Dreadfully boring. The only pro sport I like to attend live is NHL.

Hell on earth. There are very few things I can say with more certainty than I will never attend another baseball game in my life.

All depends on the game. i had season tickets for a few years back in the Lakers Showtime era. Man - those were exciting games. I took my daughter to her first game when Robert Horry hit a 3 pointer from the top of the key to win a critical playoff game at the buzzer. Nobody left the building for 30 minutes. The place was shaking and I'll never forget it. But many NBA games regular season games bore me to tears.

Hockey is the best live - no question. But even then in 1-0 games it can get boring. Like soccer. Great athleticism but they need to shorten the field or something. My God.

Baseball games are a reason to get outside and eat. I love baseball, but many are boring. Every once in awhile you get a really exciting game, but not often.

Football I like just because it's an event and less than 7-8 home games. Went to a Saints game a few weeks ago - really fun and action packed.

I go to 8-10 Spurs games a year.. But only when I get a suite.

Usually spend the game sitting on the couch watching the TV showing the game happening just below.

Much of this depends on where you sit and the particular game/team you are watching. I imagine watching a Jacksonville home game in the upper deck is far less exciting than watching the Chiefs at home on the 50 yard line.

Im also intrigued by all the people downplaying basketball. It's by far my favorite sport to watch live. You are right there and can see all the players up close and personal. I suspect it is because you just don't like basketball.

I'd say the redzone channel and fantasy football saved the NFL. Very rarely can I sit and watch a game live from start to finish. I'll pause, check out a dvr show and come back later.

I could spend all day at a LSU tailgate, not even go to the game and have a freaking blast. The game is extra.

For Saints games, we go meet some friends at a bar around an hour and a half before kickoff, grab a bite and a few beers and walk to the game. Much more of a "business trip". But the atmosphere and experience is still pretty great. It probably helps that I'm inly paying $50/ticket and we sit with about 15 or so friends, and the team has been pretty good for the past 9 years, and I'm only a 10 minute drive from the stadium.

Sorry for the run on sentence.
