Golf is a boring sport (1 Viewer)

I like watching golf. I am in a fantasy league and also gamble on it so that helps.

How does the sport of golf survive without Tiger Woods?
Yeah all the rich white guys with 100,000+ country club memberships will hang it up as soon as Tiger is done.

Rory, JT, Spieth, Fowler, Day, Rahm, Rose, Scott, Reed, Fleetwood, DJ. Hacks, all of them.

It's just an entirely different viewing experience than most sports. It might not lead to you jumping off your couch or screaming along with 50 others in a bar, but that doesn't make it any less interesting or engrossing to watch if it's something you're into.

I'll take 5 hours of laying on my couch watching on Sunday over 2 hours watching one of the best basketball games of the season, hands down.

any slagging of hoops gets my

What makes it great is that many fans can relate to the game. Most people have never played football, baseball, basketball. Most golf fans have played the game before. Plus the history, seeing Jack and Freddie and Tom Watson still out there for decades is fun.

Boring to watch or just in general?  I can see why many find golf boring to watch.  I find baseball boring to watch as well other than the team I like.  Playing golf is a blast though.

It's also a sport that you can have on in the background while you are doing other things.

I never was able to watch golf on TV until I started to play it.  Until you have tried to make shots on the course you have zero appreciation as to how difficult it is to do what the professionals are doing.  Once I played for a while I enjoy watching golf.  As RUSF18 said its a nice napping sport.  You can doze off while watching and when the volume goes up on the TV for a good shot you can open your eyes and see what happened.  Then nod back off again.  It's a very relaxing afternoon experience.
