I lost Portis yesterday for perhaps the season and it looks like Fitz tweaked his hammy again. Please tell me that Gonzalez is going to be OK for this week.

Chiefs | Gonzalez injury updateMon, 13 Nov 2006 07:25:10 -0800ESPNews, citing the Palm Beach Post, reports Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez (shoulder) is expected to miss 2-3 weeks of action with a shoulder injury. The Kansas City Star reports Gonzalez will undergo additional tests.

We know nothing yet.....

The PBP was going off a quote from Gonzo's brother....

I would not do ANYTHING until Herman's sermon Tuesday @ 11:45 central

What did Edwards have to say about Gonzo? There was another thread around here that was saying he would only miss one week and could potentially return for Turkey Day.

Chiefs | Gonzalez OUT for Week 11

Mon, 13 Nov 2006 15:20:12 -0800

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez (shoulder) will not play Week 11. TE Jason Dunn will replace Gonzalez in the lineup. ;)

As soon as I can find what Herman ACTUALLY says, I will post it here.

What we know is that he is doubtful for this week and that we still wanted to suit up and only play on 3rd downs. That is per my listening to HE's presser today.

KCChiefs.coom usually gets a transcript up quickly.

relevant portion Re: TG

Q: How does the loss of Gonzalez affect what you do on offense?

EDWARDS: “It affects you a little bit. He’s a big target and is having a pretty good year catching the ball and blocking. Now we’ve got to get other guys involved. He’s been a good player and is another guy who’s started a lot of games here and hasn’t missed a game in quite some time. He’s doubtful this week and if he’s going to miss this week so be it. We’re going to have to continue to get other guys the football.

“First off, we’ve got to find a way to make first downs.”

Q: Do you start working Kris Wilson back at fullback and tight end?

EDWARDS: “Jason (Dunn) will be the tight end at this point and we’ll leave Kris where he’s at and we’ve got some other things we can do with Kris, as we do with some other players. That’s what we’re formulating now ‘cause when you lose a big weapon, a guy who’s been a pretty good player, then some other guys have to step up and play.”

Q: Have you talked to Tony and is his injury known now? He’s doubtful you say?

EDWARDS: “Yeah, he was in yesterday. Yeah, maybe (might play). Last night he said he wanted to be the third tight end and wanted to be the third down tight end. That’s Tony though. It’s good to hear him say that as the week goes on.”

Q: So you’re hopeful for the Thanksgiving game?

EDWARDS: “Yeah, I would hope, but we’ll see. It’s a pain tolerance deal and we’ll see as the week goes on.”
