Not bad when you can get a player for a guy you were going to cut anyway. I wish the kid well but I can't see him suddenly learning how to catch just because he's now on the niners.

The Niners are saying the same thing.
:lmao: I'm sure that's true. It's like trading garbage cans at the curb with your neighbor.
Except one comes from the "U" and the other comes with built in garbage via gatorland!
In truth, I have more confidence in Gregg Williams' ability to get productivity out of Rumph than I have of Gibbs, Saunders, Nolan or anyone else getting productive play from Jacobs. Either way, it wouldn't appear that any Pro Bowl rosters will be affected by this trade.

With Battle hurt and Gilmore as the current #2, I think the Niners needed Jacobs more than the Skins needed Rumpf.

At best, Rumpf will be the #4 CB for WAS.

I don't disagree. That said, did you see the 2nd string secondary last night vs. the Bengals? :XA thought just occurred to me: might Rumph be a candidate for backup safety?

I just can't believe that a team gave up value (even if minimal) for Jacobs. The guy can't seem to catch a cold.

That's probably what they like about him, is that he can play both. At least is big enough to play safety. No major deal and both teams probably were going to cut their respective player. Help each team in the area they need depth. I think the maybe having some familiar boyz from the U will help him settle in and feel like being a part of the team. He probably knows Brandon Lloyd too.As for Jacobs, he'll need to learn a whole new offense and take Catching the Football 101. Add that he's a Gator WR...he might not pass. ;)

Mike Espy looking good in camp and in the game helped them make this decision..I'm sure. Then again, Jacobs was barely ever on the field since being drafted, so almost anyone can perform better than him, at leat while he was a 'Skin that is...

Good call about Rumpf as an alternate at safety. Sean Taylor is not exactly the poster-boy for stability.
