Google wins the battle for NFL Sunday ticket (1 Viewer)

I’m going to be disappointed if they don’t offer it a la carte
According to the ESPN article, it will be offered as an add-on package to your YouTubeTV subscription, or a la carte via YouTube Primetime Channels.

Thanks. I’m not familiar with their Primetime Channels so I wasn’t sure how to interpret that piece.

I’ll be interested to see how the price breaks down. Currently I use Hulu for live tv for roughly 8 months out of the year, I prefer their interface and the additional streaming content over YTTV, so I’m hoping there isn’t a huge up charge for the a la carte option.

Oh, I just looked up what Primetime Channels are. This might be a really good thing if you can purchase it without subscribing to the $64.99 monthly.

I doubt they do it how I'm thinking it sounds, though. There seems to be little way they'll just let you pay for pro football without a sub already. That would be too cool.

I think that is how it currently works. Like you can pay just for Paramount+ through them, and not have YouTubeTV (I think).

My guess is a la carte it will cost like $500 and if you have a YouTubeTV subscription it will be like a $300 add-on.

i think for $500, Im going to stick to redzone.

$300 im probably in. but I currently pay for hulu, not you tube

I’d guess it’ll be an optional add-on

It is. But you'd imagine it'll be a loss leader considering how much they probably paid for it. That means subs might go up to cover costs.
Yeah. The $14 billion is going to be paid from somewhere. Whether it's a loss leader or maybe they don't even hit the subscription projection.

I don't recall many talking about what a great deal DirecTV is over the last couple of decades. The purpose of a provider getting the Ticket contract is to create an advantage over competitors and leverage over customers in order to raise prices all around.

In fact many left DTV for YouTubeTV to get away from the bloated cable/dish model, and have been seeing YTTV inch closer back to that. Google dumping $14 billion on the Sunday Ticket pretty much guarantees it.

The biggest issue with DTV having it was they used it to leverage you into using their TV package. No legal streaming option allowed if you could install DTV. YTTV may or may not change that but at least they offer family plans, etc. and it will be delivered on a streaming platform for more flexibility. Not tied to a dish and receiver at a single location.

This is my thoughts as well. Although, a coworker told me about Express VPN. It's around $100/year. You can VPN into cities around the country and get their local channels. I have YouTube TV and get local channels on it. Being a Miami fan in Nebraska means I see only a handful of Miami games per year. I can use the VPN on my laptop to connect to Miami, then use YouTube TV on my browser to get the local Miami game, and stream to my TV via a HDMI cable. It's a cheaper option if you just want to see one team.

(I'm assuming the $100/month was a typo and is supposed to be $100/year. At least I hope so).

Whoops. Yes. $100/year. Edited and fixed

DTV hasn’t charged me for the ST in years. I have no idea why They’ve been giving it to me for free. Gonna be a tough pill to swallow if YTTV wants 500. And will the stream work? I’ve never watched YTTV. Do they have any live content currently?

eta: get off my lawn!

Yes. A ton of live content. Largely trouble free for me. And 100% portable. Family plans make it a great value.
