Gore's ankle? (1 Viewer)

the latest on NFL.com (I'm going by what the team is reporting, not some boneheaded speculating analyst)

Gore re-injured the ankle on his only carry during Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He left the game after a four-yard gain and did not return.

Gore was taken to the locker room on a cart but X-rays revealed no broken bones.

The team is calling the injury an ankle strain that is not related to the ankle sprain he suffered during his 207-yard rushing performance against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 20.

Coach Mike Singletary said he will wait for the MRI exam results before discussing whether Gore will be able to return for this week's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Sounds like there's a chance he may not miss any time at all.

SANTA CLARA – Running back Frank Gore’s ankle injury Sunday was not related to the ankle sprain that forced him out of action in the 49ers’ previous game, coach Mike Singletary said Monday.

Gore sustained a right ankle sprain while rushing for 207 yards Sept. 20 against the Seattle Seahawks. He had limited practice during the week and injured the same ankle on his first carry of Sunday’s game.

But Singletary says the injury sustained early in the game Sunday against the Vikings is not related to Gore’s pre-existing condition. Gore’s latest injury is a “strain,” which means an injury to a muscle or tendon.

Gore underwent an MRI examination Monday, and was seen wearing an orthopedic boot.

“It is not believed to be serious,” Singletary said. The 49ers have home games the next two weeks against St. Louis and Atlanta before their Oct. 18 bye week.

Gore has missed playing time in three consecutive seasons with ankle injuries. He missed one game in 2007 with a right ankle sprain, and two games last season with a left ankle sprain.

Schefter reported: "Although the 49ers are denying that Frank Gore has a high ankle sprain, a team source admits he "might need to rest a week or so."

So outlook says he will sit as if it were a high ankle sprain, but when he returns after the BYE he won't have the lingering effects of one.

49ers Say Frank Gore Will Miss 3 Weeks (9/28 7:24 PT)

The Facts: The 49ers, eschewing the top-secret approach that plenty of teams apply to matters of injury and rehab, have announced that an MRI performed on Gore reveals a "right ankle strain and a right hind foot sprain." The team says that he'll be out approximately three weeks. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

He'll be back after the bye week, and it is not a high ankle sprain so he should be good to go.

lol but fortunately Gore is not a horse in a literal sense

Gore owners everywhere are running to their waiver wires for a cup of Coffee. Myself included, grabbed him as a handcuff with my last pick in one draft and just picked him up off waivers in another. Favorable match up against St. Louis at home next week. Hopefully he puts up better numbers than he did against Minny.

I cant believe this.

every RB I touch this year goes down.

in my work League, I drafted in this order:

LT, Gore, MBIII, and all 3 have gone down.

I'm 2-1 and probably shouldnt be. The only reason I have a chance right now is because I grabbed Ray Rice & McGahee late in my draft and picked up FWP on waivers when someone dropped him last week.

Maybe LT will return to my lineup soon.
