Got a Sphynx (1 Viewer)

I'm not what you'd call a cat person, but my wife really wanted another cat so I agreed, but only if it's something different/cool/unusual. Some of you may remember my wife and I were considering getting a Savannah cat. Too expensive, too wild.

So we decided on a black Sphynx. Hard to find, had to travel to NY (from Boston) during the blizzard last weekend to get him. Breeder almost couldn't deliver him to us because they shut down the roads, but she was able to get to us in the morning.

Anyway, he is awesome. 8 weeks old. Definitely different, cool, and unusual. Doesn't even really look like a cat. Looks and moves like some other kind of creature altogether. Kinda like a bat/rat/bald cat.

Friendly, affectionate, playful, cool cat. Think I'm gonna like this little guy.

I can think of 1500, 1800 and 2200 reasons why not to own one of those fugly cats. Plus the page said they are better in pairs!!!But if you like him, good on you. Does it even have hair? Also are they hypoallergenic?
Technically, they do have hair but it's virtually imperceptible. Hard to describe. Feels smooth and soft.As far as hypoallergenic:

"Most cat allergies are a result of the Fel d 1 glycoprotein, which is present in cat saliva and skin excretions. So the runny eyes, watery noses, and scratchy throats endured by most allergy sufferers are virtually unavoidable if they are exposed to cats. Southern California-based company Allerca claims to have bred a hypoallergenic cat, which was engineered to have modified versions of the Fel d 1 glycoprotein. However, as The Scientist reports, Allerca published no scientific proof that their pets are in fact hypoallergenic, and subsequent investigations conducted by The Scientist found several disappointed customers who were essentially told that they were too allergic to receive Allerca cats. While not hypoallergenic, the Sphynx is recommended by some breeders as better for allergy sufferers, simply because they dont deposit allergen-laden hair."

Awwww it's really cuute!

jk, it looks like Satan raped a lump of coal, that a big-eared demon popped out.

Had him for about a week and a half now. He's by far the coolest cat I've ever been around. Unlike any cat I've ever seen.

I know some think he's ugly. I think he's awesome looking. Also very clean which I love. Highly recommended if you're looking for a small, unique, pet.
