Gotham - a show about Batman without any actual uhhh...Batman (1 Viewer)

Not understanding the continued hate for Fish. I didn't like her character for awhile, but she's turned into one of the more redeeming parts of the show. She's smart and conniving and at least has some depth to her character. I would say she might be somewhat out of place on the show, but the show is so over the map that that's impossible.

I've come around to Fish -- Jada Pinkett Smith has done a good job with the character. And while I originally thought this side show/quasi Prison Break arc was stupid, it at least resembles a real plot line for the first time in awhile on the show.
Very much this. My rating of various plot lines / aspects

8: Nygma (creepy dude but strangely likeable)

7: Mafia including Penguin

7: Jim and Harvey's relationship

6: Fish

5: Jim and Leslie

5: Cat

4: Bruce and Alfred

3: most of the super villian teasers

2: anything related to Barbara

they could stop the bat back stories and make this a good show. The teasers will keep people interested for a short time but that will fade quick.

Sorry, she may be doing a good job with the character, but this side show is awful. First of all, it took a ridiculous prison break by her buddy to free her when she should have been dead already. Second of all, the end of that one episode where the guy shot the captain and then captured her was comical. The two of them growling and running at each other right after he just executed the captain? We don't even know where the heck that boat came from.

And of course now, we have side show Bob in her buddy who dances on command. Victor went from being a cool hit-man/cleaner to a guy who can psychologically break down someone in a couple days?

The fact that this side show is to you the first real plot line in awhile says to me that there is a general problem with the show rather than her new "family" being a good part of the show. IMHO, from her escape till now has just been awful and so silly. Two 300+ guys feel threatened by her I'll kill you line? LOL.

Found you .. Little sucker dropped to page 8 and search for Gotham or Batman didn't find this slippery little fellow..

Tthought last nights episode was very good..

Fish popping her own eye out and then stomping on it

Alfred getting stabbed, and by someone trying to help the board take out Bruce

Penguin having a heck of a time getting the club to run, and getting help from the person he still fears..

Yeah, Fish's move makes no sense. Should have done the same to her captor instead.
her options were die or give up both her eyes. She chose option 3 ruin one eye so it cant be taken by the dollmaker and she can still see and why kill her for her eyes now. Pretty cool imo

Yeah, so now they just kill her for being insolent. At least that's what would happen in reality. I think she wasted an opportunity to grab the leader and hold him hostage.

Seems like the only way to find anything is to use google. Searched for a fairly big and popular thread, not found. First result on google.

Agreed, really silly way to keep her alive. She isn't useful, why not just kill her. What use is she now to the organ donors other than somehow the writers keeping her in the show? I still don't like the Fish character. She reminds me of Sylar in Heroes where she could have easily been killed and it would have been a great scene. Instead they wanted to keep the character around and now they have to make crap up to keep her story going.

The other parts of the show, Alfred's friend and Penguin and Selena blow up Barbara, were great. Fish, was not.

This reminds me a lot like the Walking Dead thread. "Hey, you know that show based on a comic book? The one where there are super villains and a super hero dressed up as a bat patrolling the city? Don't you think there are a lot of parts of the show that seem unrealistic?"

I'll never understand why people expect everything to be realistic. It's entertainment. It all reminds me of a guy I worked with who was telling me that the first Transformers movie was OK but he was upset because he felt there were some unrealistic plot holes. Forget the fact that aliens had just come to Earth and were able to transform into vehicles. That's fine. But the fact that the government officials acted in a way that real officials would never act ruined it for him.

Not sure I get those references on this show. Batman, as seen in the recent movies/this show, is probably the most realistic super hero (or Sci-fi like Transformers) show there is. If you have watched this show, it is basically a mob/cop show where there isn't a single super power. So, I think I have to disagree with your assertion and references to zombies and Transformers, neither of which are grounded in reality. I know "reality" is a stretch for Batman, but I mean reality in terms of no super virus, mutants, talking cars or flying people with laser eyes.

"most realistic super hero show" Yeah, it is but that doesn't mean a whole lot.

brainwashing, adrenal gland serum, investment firm fight club... realistic is not how I'd describe the show, nor hope for.

True, I just meant that I can see more leniency with other shows. I would consider Batman as close to realistic as a super hero show can get, i.e. the people are caricatures and some of the inventions are pushing it, but not quite to the level of a Superman or X-Men or Transformers or zombies.

It's on par with SHIELD IMO. (and I really like both shows)

Jada Pinkett Smith Has Some Surprising News About Her Role on ‘Gotham’

http://extratv.com/2...role-on-gotham/

Jada Pinkett Smith joined “Extra’s” AJ Calloway at our H&M Studios in Times Square where she broke the news that she is leaving the hit FOX show “Gotham” at the end of the season.

The actress said, “We're done. I did my year and I had a good time,” but she reassured fans that her nefarious character, Fish Mooney, will go out with a bang. "The show is going to have an awesome finale!"

Jada couldn’t give too many details on her last episode, but she did say, "You never know what Fish might have up her sleeve."

Pinkett Smith is grateful for her time on the show. "I've always been a comic book fan so it was definitely a dream to be able to participate in an origin story of Batman with an original character. Who would of thought in a million years that I would have the opportunity to do that?”

“Gotham” airs Monday on FOX!

Thank God, just wish the #### didnt spoil it
Typo, sorry assmunch. Fixed as soon as I saw it.

Not my fault all you do is hit F5 all day.
I think he was talking about Jada Pinkett Smith herself.
Maybe, maybe not. Shady is a very negative putz.
You're still miserable, eh?
Still? I have never been miserable in my life.

I'm personally glad about the spoiler. The character in question has been a real weak link for me since the show started, although I love just about everything else about it (including Barbara; she's just too gorgeous for me to hate without something concrete, which neither the character nor Erin Richards has provided).

Any scene with Bruce and Alfred is full of win for me. Ditto Bruce and Selina/Ivy scenes. McKenzie has been fantastic as Gordon and Donal Logue has been terrific too. In fact, the writing and directing for the show have been so good (with a few subpar efforts) that I'm even enjoying Baccarin, an actress I have never been able to stand before, as Lee. I think it's because she's not playing the same exact smug and/or downer of a character she played on V, Homeland, and The Mentalist. She's been quite cute and has added some real energy.

Thanks for bringing this back on topic.

I agree completely, a complete weak link.

Im starting to agree that there is just too many story lines to care much about one in particular.

Now they have the Ogre which looks like its arc runs over the last 4 episodes.

Thought the cat throwing junkie guy out of the window was interesting. Obviously we know Selina ends up bad, but that was unexpected from a kid.

A bit overselling of foreshadowing IMO - Bruce wants to kill him but doesn't, so Cat does it for him.

This past weeks episode was all over the place. I will be glad when Fish Mooney character is gone.
I'm obviously in the minority but I've found her character at least mildly amusing/interesting. Cringeworthy, but I've actually liked her story.

Honestly, I hope this is where they are trying to get back to instead of all of the other characters. It was so much better when it was a mob vs. each other vs. Bruce Wayne (killing his parents) and Gordon was the main star as a detective with his partner solving cases and fighting the mob. Bringing in the other characters for bit spots here and there with the penguin being more central with Gordon and Selena with Bruce was fine. Making Mooney a main character and spending so much time on her in the ridiculous story (the doctor reattaching a head to body parts, really?) was a huge distraction and derailed the show a lot.

The break really made me realize I didnt miss this show one bit. Deleting off my DVR.
I didn't really either, but I like the serial killer aspect. I hope they get back to being a cop show instead of the ensemble show it became. It seems like this break may be doing that.

I know they have a different actor listed as the Ogre, but I kept thinking it was Dent, or supposed to be Dent.

As for Fish, I've pretty much tolerated her, but really didn't like her story this week:

1. It was obvious that she set up the guys going for the boat.
2. Leaving Dollmaker alive doesn't sound like her MO; she would have ordered someone to finish him off. I like fatal mistakes, just not ones so blantantly, painfully obvious.

Just watched both new episodes last night after finishing up a ton of work. Thoroughly enjoyed both. The chemistry between Bruce and Alfred is just fantastic. Also love anything with Selina and Bruce. Glad to see Fish's ridiculous storyline wrapping up. Oh, and Carol Kane was great.

Anyone else like last night's episode?
yep. The Cat / Bruce stuff is great, though again with the blatant foreshadowing. It just seems they're too obvious with the stuff we know.
I liked the fact that they seem to be giving the different plot threads a little more space; with like 5 minutes to go, all of them were still unresolved and I was afraid they were going to rush at least one of them to a conclusion before the hour was up.

It also felt like they're going more into the duality theme that accompanies the Batman universe:

1. Maroni telling Penguin's mother about his 'other' activities outside of owning a nightclub

2. Nygma's probably going to stay on with the GCPD for a while, even though he's murdered one of their own and showed little remorse.

3. In the past, Barbara seemed more conflicted about who/what she wanted to be, but since she didn't seem to flinch when the Ogre showed her the secret room with the weapons and stuff in it, she may be slipping further into a darker place, which will contrast more sharply with Gordon's image of her.
