I hope that Penguin's mother is somehow eliminated. I am already tired of that character.

They've already had scenes that depict their relationship being somewhere between the Bates' in Psycho and the Shaws in The Manchurian Candidate.

Since we've now seen a case of a stepson killing his mother, I don't know if they'll duplicate that angle for Penguin killing his mother, and since she also doesn't wield any power over his career, I don't see him ending up putting a bullet in her head either, so I'm thinking she'll wind up in Arkham.

I don't like nitpicking this show (and I know that this one just begs for it), but for as much as I think the show is moving in the right direction:

Agreed, I thought this may have been the best show so far. It was good to start, got derailed and has gotten better. I know, they like to introduce the villains, but they got away from the mob/police stories and they got back to it. Loved the darkness of this episode and the trick by the Penguin, just much better show.

She assumed right away (and said this on the show) that he blew her off as he had done before. Also, you expect to see body parts in the morgue, not that a person you worked with who was kind of a ##### would kill your much stronger boyfriend. Agreed on 3, pretty cool.

Unfortunately, Fish is back in the finale. Just get rid of her already. This could be such a solid show if they stick with what they have done the last few episodes. Crime solving with Nygma, mob wars, Penguin, Bruce/Alfred/Selena Wayne Enterprises and occasional other characters as part of that show. Get rid of Fish and get rid of the need to have to introduce all the villains and you can great shows like last night every week.

Woo effing hoo. So glad she's not coming back. Her story line just got so stupid. They should have just killed her when they captured her. That whole escape process and then kidnap by the surgeon was so stupid and tangential.

IMO the arc wasn't really about the ogre, it's about Barbara.

IMO the arc wasn't really about the ogre, it's about Barbara.

Maybe but they (Fox) was making a huge deal that Milo Ventimiglia was signed on to do a villain arc and that the Ogre was coming to Gotham.

Based on the preview I saw on Dig, I think you are correct.

Good season finale.

Nothing extremely surprising as they hinted at most things in the previews and face it, prequels are somewhat constrained. But a few thoughts:

1. I did not like Selina going with Fish's gang. Even less so when she found Jim and brought him out.

2. Barbara's fight with Leslie, Jim with impeccable timing of course.

3. Nygma's split personality, fairly well done.

4. Don't think Fish is really dead. We've seen this before.

5. Yep, the plotline of the Ogre was about getting Barbara to change.

6. Harvey is awesome. A survivor, yet one with a strong relationship with Jim. He's become my favorite character.

7. When does next season begin? I didn't expect to like this show as much as SHIELD, but I do. More actually.

Solid end to the season. Still never liked the Fish story lines and I didn't like Selena with her, but hopefully she's gone for a while and hopefully for good. Loved the Penguin this episode and his ability to manipulate and the girl fight was solid. Not sure how they are going to get Jim and Barbara back together after that, knowing

Enh, I did not like the finale much at all. First, I had just had! Enough! Of! Fish! I was hoping for her to get a satisfying and conclusive sendoff, but of course they left the door open for her to make some appearance(s) in a tiresome guest arc in future seasons. Glad to see Maroni gone, however.

There was much that just did not make any sense and was jarring. Examples:

-All of the dudes that Maroni/Loeb dispatched to the hospital ignored Falcone sitting tied up and defenseless in his room in favor of shooting Stormtrooperesque barrages of errant bullets at Gordon as he catapulted around with ridiculous ballet moves. Why not just tie Gordon down with one shooter while the other guys, you know, go kill Falcone, which is what they were doing there to begin with?

-Jim repeatedly said he was done in this town. Huh? He just caught an awful serial killer last week.

-What was the point of Fish's entire Island of Dr. Dollmaker subplot??

-Fish frees Harvey but leaves Jim tied up, while Harvey just stands there.

-Selina had no reason whatsoever to join up with Fish.

I also thought Barbara's transformation into a psycho was ridiculous, although at least it gave that gorgeous hottie Erin Richards a chance to act for a change.

The ending would have been really fun except . . . it was completely spoiled in the previews.

Wow. I enjoyed probably 16-17 of the season's 22 episodes, but it's hard not to feel like the whole thing was a letdown after a finale that bad.

I assumed this was suppose to be something different but Jada Pinkett leaving put the kabosh on that.

Not sure what your getting at here. Fish and Harvey go way back so shes letting him go. Jim is a cockroach she needs to crush and will kill him quick.

-Selina had no reason whatsoever to join up with Fish.

Other than being an orphan with no ties whom just killed someone. She going to be very attracted to a female in a position of power, especially after the 2 weeks they were together before the finale.

Beg to differ. Ogre has a way of mentally changing his victims during the traumatic process. Especially Barbara who never really seemed strong by any means mentally.

This irked me as well. For someone that never takes orders from anyone and how she mentioned that very frequently, she did join up with Fish pretty quickly. Unless they were doing that to show that Fish is a very persuasive individual.

I agree as well. You have him on the run, go in with the other amount of guys that were there to get Falcone.

Of course the other thing that bothered me, Fish was shot and then was gone for two episodes and then reappeared. Where did she go? Did she have surgery? Did she almost die? Why shoot her and then have her disappear for a couple of episodes?

I might watch it if it's set up in the structure of Mad Men and Breaking Bad with 13 episodes a year. I don't think I'll ever watch a bloated 25 episode network show again.

Good call, although it was 22 episodes would have been a much better, tighter show with say a 16 episode season.

When I first heard about it, I was skeptical. But overall it was solid. A few stories I found a bit boring, especially (and I'm sure I'll get pummeled for it) the Bruce Wayne portion. However, the last few episodes, where he's gearing up to take on his own company he inherited, was good and left me intrigued how it unfolds. The Fish stuff... I liked it at times, but it got kinda bland and am glad that ended. I always wondered what would be the catalyst for the Riddler. Good story there...

Really looking forward to season 2.

I don't always have the remote in my hand when the show ends. Additionally, in this particular case the scene in question was spoiled in numerous ads for Gotham during other Fox shows.

I don't always have the remote in my hand when the show ends. Additionally, in this particular case the scene in question was spoiled in numerous ads for Gotham during other Fox shows.

AA's point about the previews showing too much is fair, but as with all prequels there aren't going to be major surprises.

Well, with a TV show of indeterminate length, as opposed to three prearranged movies, you don't know when things are going to happen. So it would be nice if the preview monkeys didn't give key stuff away. And I wasn't upset that they found the Batcave, or a (pre)Batcave; I was upset that the previews gave it away weeks in advance and then it turns out to be the season-ending cliffhanger. Stupid.

Not asking this to be a doosh or start something, but why do you watch the previews?

The show ends, i delete and never see another thing about it until I watch again next week.

This, I never watch a preview or commercial for anything if i already know I want to see it. Annoys me when previews get talked about in TV threads.

I would watch them. I think it got better as the season progressed.
