Gotham - a show about Batman without any actual uhhh...Batman (1 Viewer)

Really liked Monday's episode. Hugo Strange just got a little more interesting when he had his epiphany.  Some may think the Azrael stuff was a little ham-handed, but I like how it sets up a future role reversal in the larger story arc of Gotham City itself.

Good season finale.

Nothing extremely surprising as they hinted at most things in the previews and face it, prequels are somewhat constrained. But a few thoughts:

1. I did not like Selina going with Fish's gang. Even less so when she found Jim and brought him out.

2. Barbara's fight with Leslie, Jim with impeccable timing of course.

3. Nygma's split personality, fairly well done.

4. Don't think Fish is really dead. We've seen this before.

5. Yep, the plotline of the Ogre was about getting Barbara to change.

6. Harvey is awesome. A survivor, yet one with a strong relationship with Jim. He's become my favorite character.

7. When does next season begin? I didn't expect to like this show as much as SHIELD, but I do. More actually
1. With both in Arkham now, Selina/Fish could be interesting.

2. Bring back Leslie!

3. Cory Michael Smith deserves consideration for best supporting actor.

4. :)

5. Still not sure where we're going with her.

6.  Love Harvey / Donal Logue, another excellent supporting actor. (I'm slow, just seeing that he was the "Fed" who caused Otto's death)

7. Still prefer this to SHIELD.

1. I think Fish gets out pretty quickly and has no contact with Selina; or maybe Selina convinces Firefly to roast Fish.

2. Still convinced she had the baby after all and maybe gave it up for adoption, clearing the way for it to be given the name Barbara.

3. He's picked up where Penguin left off.

4. Not a fan of Fish's, but she fits in the universe of Gotham.

5. The writers may have put themselves into a corner regarding Barbara; may have to not see her for a while.

6. Bullock was a great foil for Gordon when he was a straight arrow cop, but now that he's pseudo Batman, they're more similar than different.  Moving him to Captain was a good way to flip that dynamic.

7. Never been able to watch SHIELD, so no comment.

*8. It feels like they're leading up to a cliffhanger in which Arkham or Indian Hill is rigged to blow up and all our 'heroes', i.e., Gordon, Bruce, Fox, Selina are trapped inside, kind of a nod to the TV show.  I hope it doesn't go that way, since we know ahead of time that all of them survive.  I'd prefer a foreshadowing like the end of Batman Begins, with just a tease of what's to come.

*9. A wild thought just hit me:

The Barbara Gordon who becomes Batgirl is actually Bruce and Selina's daughter.  As much as the two have been interacting on this show, maybe they have a one-night stand next season, and when Selina realizes she's pregnant, she doesn't want Bruce to know and she doesn't want the lifestyle she believes Bruce would try to force on her, so she leaves town to have the baby. Thus, Bruce becomes even more brooding and even though the show will never run long enough, it creates an extra layer for those of us who are sticking with it. I don't know the comic book universe, so I don't know if this was ever thought of there...?

Fried Fish

Nygma has been better than Oswald this season.

   they're like 13!

Would give Selina more street cred.  Actually, if Leslie had the baby, it would be older than any child Bruce fathers from here on out, so   on me anyway.
FWIW, there appears to be a 7 year difference between Batman/batgirl, depending what source you're looking at.  That sure seems too small here, but the same source would have Robin born soon.

Didn't know the age gap, but I would have thought there would be more than 7 years between them.  If that's the case for her and Robin both, they probably won't get around to introducing either of them.  No big loss.

Just caught up with this week's episode.  Why the need to bring back Jada Smith?  The show had gotten so much better since Fish had gotten killed off.

True.  There was no reason to bring back her character.  Maybe she gets killed off for good tonight.

Who was the person talking to the old lady at the end of the show?  It looked like a cross between Bruce and Selina.  Kinda weird.

I'm assuming we saw fuzzy images of Killer Croc, Man-Bat, and others as they wandered off into the misty night.

Pretty good finale.

I didn't care too much for the finale. I think they are trying to cram in too many characters, but there is always just enough good stuff to keep me watching so I'm sure I'll be back for more next season. Agree that The show was better without Fish though, hopefully her arc will be short and she's not a regular again. Would much rather have more Nygma or Strange.

I'm just glad that they didn't use the bomb for their cliffhanger.

So far I am enjoying the beginning of the new season although the Mad Hatter/Alice story line seems out of place.  I guess I need someone to tell me how they fit into the Batman universe?

Penguin for Mayor!

Mad Hatter is a super villain.

I'm enjoying this season even more than the first two.

Nygma vs. Butch probably won't end well for Butch, even if he does know Gotham like the back of his hand.

Just like Barnes at the end of the episode, I didn't see that twist coming.

:goodposting: lots of different story lines going on..

Still dont like the Mad Hatter arc or the alt-bruce wayne character but dont hate enough to stop watching.

Nygma and Penguin lines are entertaining. "Make Gotham Safe Again!"

My knowledge of the Batman universe is terribly lacking; I don't remember anything about the character from the 60's show, so for me this take was very new.  Seems like he could be a lot more powerful that what we saw.

I have to believe that the writers created the election arc to coincide with the actual elections.  Love the irony that it almost mirrors the actual one.

Does the Bruce 'clone' exist in the comics?  I get that he doesn't feel pain, but it seems like he shouldn't have been able to walk away in the scene when he left.

Talk about jumping the rails ..

Penguin is gay and in love with the riddler.

Batman and cat woman are a "thing"

A secret society with a Gordan family member running it..

And this whole Mad Hatter/Alice/dum dum storyline out of left field ..

And we all thought Fish was bad...

:tfp:

And yet, like others above, I keep watching hoping they get it back on the rails.....

I heard Penguin on Howard Stern the other week and decided to start watching this show on Netflix. I flew through season 1. Very enjoyable.

People are probably noticing likes from their posts from over a year ago, so this is why.

I am soooooooooo digging this season. Since I know nothing about the Mad Hatter so it feels like new territory yet familiar at the same time.  No issues with the Pengiun love angle; given his back story it's almost cliché that he's gay.  :scared:

The Gay arc is overdone now.  Works for penguin, but if anyone is watching supergirl - that one seems forced.

I didn't see this mentioned in the thread yet but I just found out that our intrepid Jim Gordon voiced the Caped Crusader in the animate Batman Year One, with Brian Cranston as Gordon.

So I really liked season 1. The first episode of season 2 was a good start.

But episode 2 night be the most violent TV show I've ever seen. Is the whole season like that?

Really enjoying this season.. Certainly been some gruesome deaths and the storyline has been building well.. SO much better since Fish "died"..

I also like the little things they've done, like having one of the Joker's thugs from The Dark Knight show up earlier this season as part of the arc that Joker came back in, as well as the fact that Ben McKenzie was the voice of Batman in the Year One cartoon movie.
