For leagues that allow teams to keep one or two players from their current roster for next year.

Which players have a chance to be a Top 20 pick in next year's draft and may be available on waivers, or for cheap from teams in a position to win this year that don't need their services immediately? Basically... injured players and backups likely to move into a productive role that seem like they may worth taking a flier on now, before teams to pack it up this year.

I'd be cautious of guys like Brown, Caddy and Deuce that face tough long rehabs ahead of them.

Andre Johnson is an interesting name, as he won't be back for a few weeks still, and may not be 100%.

ETA: Turner is an excellent choice if the owner will part with him.

Because we don't know what offense they'll benefit from next year and they have some potential to be starters for a decent one. Some FF teams have more top talent than they can keep, the talent is rarely evenly distributed, which means others would need to keep players outside of this tier that they could acquire in the draft. Are you certain that none will warrant a Round 1-2 draft pick in August? Addai might have been among this group last year at this time, since he was in a RBBC and not a key player on teams grooming for the playoffs. Who can say what opportunity Turner might have on draft day? Ronnie Brown's recovery may go well, and Norwood may have the starting role to himself. If he does, are you certain that the Falcons will not make adjustments to their offense? In some leagues, you can dump injured players into an injury slot on your roster, and if you have to cut a spare player you're not likely to start, you could land a gem before the news breaks during the offseason.

Not everyone in the whole realm of fantasy football plays keeper leagues they way you think they should be played. In saying that, those would be nice keepers as I am in an auction league that keeps two players a year. Your two keepers cost 10 dollars more each year to keep. Which is subtracted from your budget of 200 dollars. So I will not be able to keep FWP this year for 69 dollars, nor will I be able to keep Reggie wayne for 36. I will however be keeping Tony Romo for $17, and as far as my other guy I just dont see anyone who is worth bumping up for another $10.

Picking Irons up off the FA wire and keeping him next year for 10 bucks would be a real possibility as well if Rudi keeps sitting out.

You are 100% correct. It completely depends on your league format... which is something that should have been mentioned in the original post.In a league that is just keep 1 or 2, I cannot see planning on keeping these guys without know what their future holds. Lots can happen between know and next season.

Brown could rehab fast and Turner, if he lands with a solid run team, will be an early second rounder.

Selvin Young has to be on the list, and maybe some of the other Denver RBs. With Henry likely gone much of next year, who knows who'll land the job?

You are 100% correct. It completely depends on your league format... which is something that should have been mentioned in the original post.

That would have been a post for the Assistant Coaches Forum, but I do appreciate that you would be interested in helping out with a more specific question.What I was hoping to discuss is what Top 20 value for next season may be available cheap right now. Not all of those players will warrant an early pick in 2008 but some might. I agree, a lot could happen between now and then, but which players might you hedge on that are most likely to emerge with an excellent opportunity that cannot help their teams out immediately.

Clearly, those we can say have a high probability of doing well in 2008 with confidence (LT, Brady, SJax, Westbrook, etc) would be who you want to keep, but they're valuable NOW, and my hope for the thread is to discuss players that represent long term production at terrific present market value.

Michael Turner is a great keeper option. I can only keep 2 offensive players in my league and there is a great chance I will be keeping him depending where he ends up. Being a free agent at the end of the year, someone that needs a running back will pony up big bucks to make him their feature back. I got him in the 15th round of my draft, so to keep him, it would only cost a 15th round pick. If he ends up the starter in Green Bay or Houston that would be ridiculous value. I agree with you on the other guys, none of them really intrigue me as keepers. Norwood a little bit, he has to become the starter there sooner or later. If he doesn't cost much, I could see someone keeping him if they did not have better options.

Again, it's all about league format. Our keeper league does not have any penalties. The only restriction on a keeper is that it is a max of 4 years. Under those guidelines, none of the players listed above are keepers. Their situations may change and definitely increase their value but at this time, I'd pass.

Regardless of round, why would you not want to keep a potential stud rb? I mean, sure you might have 2 better options, but its crazy to say "why in the heck would you consider keeping Michael Turner". He has top 10 RB written all over him if he lands in the right place.
