Grammys - Official Thread (1 Viewer)

Besides Kobe tribute/ Alicia Keyes, I think my favorite part so far is the dude that brought his Nintendo Switch on stage when his friend was accepting an award.  Are you that bored?

I respect guys like lil nas x and even the tyler dude.

As someone who grew up in the 80-90s in the heart of gangsta rap it's a mind trip to see how far rap and hip hop has evolved.

Not to get all Simon Cowell but it was nice...and forgettable.

Lizzo knows how to get a party going and make people talk. She had a bit of everything and played her hit.

Billie is on top of the world with a new ecliptic sound and image and she does a serenade.
Agree all around.

tbh, I like her and her tunes, but feel like they blur into a wash.
still a nice performance with more range and control than I expected

Gary Clark Jr.!  Love that guy.  Wife was watching and just turned around in surprise when I heard his music.  Wish he played the full version of that song he plays in concert though it was still good.

Meh 1 album in 13 years
A metal album that hit number one on the charts and knocked Taylor Swift off the top.  Metal albums rarely ever hit number 1. Oh—and the album broke a rock record for having 6 songs on the billboard top 10 at the same time.  That’s a new record that knocked 21 pilots out who had 5 in the top 10 at one point.   You can give most of the musicians they are celebrating tonight 20 years and they probably couldn’t come up with an album that good.

Not really my kind of music but I'll take your word for it and stand corrected.
Honestly—most people that say that Tool is not their kind of music just have the wrong perception of what their music is.  To understand Tool— it’s not the kind of music you can really dive into just playing it in the background. You have to sit down, put headphones on and turn them up loud, try to find a lyric video—and go on a journey—not on just sound—but also the lyrics.   One of the worst things you can do to attempt listening to Tool for the first time is to watch an official video as the visuals can be intimidating and take your focus away from the music.

Here are two good Tool song recommendations to give them a chance. I’d love it if you took the time to listen to them and give us your honest feedback.

A softer song with a great build up is “right in two”.   A slightly harder but easy to listen to song is “vicarious”.

I'm not even a huge Nas, talking old Nas, fan but when he came on my ears perked up.  The quality just stood out.

Alicia Keys is like the female John Legend.

We always hear people droning on and on about how talented they are....but they have like 3 songs over 15 years.

I've never seen an awards host get so much airtime.  Was like her talk show.  Thought she did a good job though.

I thought she was perfect.  She has a very calming voice and i think people needed that.

I'm sad I missed Alicia. I could watch her forever. John Legend is a neo-soul legend. He is indeed the guy I want to host my Christmas party so long as politics were on the back burner. Dig them both. Alicia's "No One" was my brother's wedding song. I loved it before then and after.

I actually was surprised Legend and Keys weren't a couple... They're both brilliant and seemingly heart in the right places kind of folk.

Was reading how the stars and their people aren’t happy this is in Vegas instead of LA. One called it a “gross ### town” and it’s apparently been a zoo on the strip. Cars are hard to get. Stylists are complaining about about the lack of good tailors in Vegas and having to transport stuff through smokey casinos.

:coffee:

Grammys are a joke for the most part (except when I feel like talking up Taylor Swift :P  ), but it was cool as hell to see Dream Theater win one for best metal song.  I never thought I would see the day where Dream Theater would win a Grammy.

Oh, this show. To celebrate the never-ending slew of crappy new pop artists using auto tune that can't rap or sing or do anything.

I couldn't care less about the Grammy's, but I stopped in here to see if anyone punched any anyone else yet.

Haha, so true, but I will say that Olivia Rodridgo has a helluva voice.  Her songs have been playing a lot at work lately, and all of them sound good. They even rock a little at times.
