Pierce excoriated the NCAA's enforcement people yesterday, which is always appealing to anti-authoritarian types like me.

I'm not a fan of this at all. What if you put every Big 10 team in the tourney together in the same bracket? Or every BE (RIP) team from a couple years ago? It really minimizes the impact of a power conference/team to ensure they only have 1 team in the FF.The Most Hated College Basketball Players Of The Last 30 Years Tournament

Gut reaction is Laettner takes the title, but he is in the toughest region by far.

I'm all for this, I just don't think Duke should get their own bracket. It minimizes their douchey player legacy. You really hate Simmons. I don't think it would be as much fun if you knew the Final Four was going to end up being Laettner/Hurley/Ferry/Redick.Funny -- my daughter is 9 years old, and just finished reading the first harry potter book. We watched the movie over the weekend with some of her friends. At dinner last night, someone said something about Hermione being a goodie-two shoes in the first book/movie, and how they seem to just tolerate her. I said something along the lines of "Hermione definitely goes to duke when she grows up." I got blank stares all around.
I certainly believe that much of the micromanaging at the end is because of press and public scrutiny. Coaches don't get criticized for calling timeouts, even though it might be the wrong thing to do -- see Michael Weinreb's Feb. 20 piece on West Liberty coach Jim Crutchfield for an interesting perspective on pace and timeouts. It hadn't occurred to me that so many coaches have been doing it this way for so long that kids today don't know anything different. It seems pretty stifling to me and one of the reasons for scoring being down so much in college ball. More coaching doesn't necessarily equal a better game and I could make the same case for football in another time and place. On an unrelated note, I see that Andy Greenwald begged off the Walking Dead reviews, and others, like John Lopez this week, have been great filling in.Some coaches today in that mold still feel like they have to call timeouts in endgame situations because most players had high school and club coaches who coached the game that way, and it's tough to get the players to adjust. There's also the hassle of having the answer "Why didn't you call timeout?" in the postgame presser if the team loses.

Because Hurley, Reddick, and Laettner would probably win 3 brackets.'Premier said:How does giving Duke their entire doosh bracket diminish anything?'Good said:I'm all for this, I just don't think Duke should get their own bracket. Laettner vs. Hansbrough in the final. Mateen Cleaves makes it to the 90's finals in the most shocking upset of the tourney.
I expected to see both Cardinal and Mark Madsen. Most glaring omission from the field: Brian Cardinal should have been the 2-seed in the 90s behind Jalen Rose.
With the moves that the Patriots have made today with zero Twitter activity from Simmons, there is no doubt in my mind he got a Twitter suspension.Simmons hasn't tweeted since Monday. Makes me wonder if he got suspended for this.
While its weird that he's not tweeting on his main account, I don't think this is evidence that he's been suspended. What about his tweet on the alias account is different from normal? He's tweeting out a link to his podcast. He's been tweeting through one of his alias accounts. Definitely suspended![]()
What do I get for cracking the case??

Money talks, and I am sure Simmons makes more from ESPN than he has from any other job ever, so taking his medicine here is probably worth it to keep his job. But this must be killing him, considering how much he loves hearing himself talk.Surprised Simmons puts up with that. He would be extremely valuable on the writer open market.
SI just named him the most powerful member of the sports media. I'm sure he'd have plenty of suitors if he wanted to leave ESPN.Money talks, and I am sure Simmons makes more from ESPN than he has from any other job ever, so taking his medicine here is probably worth it to keep his job. Most definitely. Especially with Fox, NBC and CBS firing up cable networks and retooling their sports sites.SI just named him the most powerful member of the sports media. Is any other network really going to give him any more freedom, though? Maybe Fox.Most definitely. If he wants to make a lot of money, he's going to have corporate masters to answer to. There's not much getting around it.Is any other network really going to give him any more freedom, though? Is he tweeting his opinions from there or is some intern posting links to his articles, podcasts, appearances, etc.?I went there briefly and it looked like a PR machine: "Read/hear/see Bill Simmons at..."He's been tweeting through one of his alias accounts. Definitely suspended![]()

I love everything I've read by him. The Wimbledon series last year was amazing.Has anyone read the piece by Brian Phillips? I just finished it, and it was incredible. I actually thought the way it incorporated multimedia, and the writing itself, was better than what the NY Times did a few months ago with their avalanche story.
FoxSports really?
