Great Eagles Moments Vs. Dallas (1 Viewer)

Eagles fans deserve all the letdowns and shortcomings that their team bestows upon them because of their poor attitude and sportsmanship. Throwing snowballs with batteries at visiting teams (and Santa), cheering Michael Irvin's injury, bounty bowls, etc. Cowboys fans can't attend a Dallas game in Philly and wear their team colors or jersey without risking bodily injury or possibly their lives. It's disgusting and a disgrace to the entire NFL to have such circumstances. When you have a courtroom and jail built into the hallows of the stadium, it's a problem. Those Eagle fans are a total disgrace and embarrassment to the NFL.

Nice job applying a blanket statement to people based on the behaviors of a very small subset. I'm not saying some of your statements don't have merit, but just a quick fact check on some items:1.) Please, please, please this "Santa" thing needs to die. If you just like to parrot what you have heard other people say, that's fine. If you take the time to learn the real story (and I've read interviews from the guy that was Santa) you'd realize that even he said he would have been throwing snowballs at himself. He wasn't a professional Santa, he was some guy in the stands wearing a suit who was under the influence that got mixed up in a bad situation.

2.) I was at the game where Irvin got injured. When he was first hit the fans cheered as they do for most hard plays. When it was apparent that he was really hurt the place got very quiet. Except for a few idiots in (of course) the 700 level. They cheered, were heard and ignored, and that was it. As Irvin was carted off, people then cheered appropriately as they normally do when an injured player leaves the field.

3.) The courtroom/jail issue has actually helped to speed up clearing up any issues that do arise. So you can't have it both ways...either you want the issues gone in a timely manner or you don't. There is much less of a problem now than there used to be and a large part of it is b/c of this being there.

4.) A disgrace to the entire NFL? You are right. No other teams have fans that throw items like beer bottles onto the field, throw snowballs, get in fights in the stands, or heckle fans of opposing teams. It's just Philly. Couldn't possibly happen in placed like NY, Cleveland, etc.....could it?

PS. I will give you points for not bringing up the "booing Donovan at the draft" incident.

In many northeast stadiums, you can't wear a rivals jersey. Bringing up the throwing snowballs thing is so lame. That happened a LONG time ago and was blown out of proportion but to a simpleton it seems like a big deal.

No team with passionate fans is perfect. And our fans didn't do the TI_S chants like they do at JETS games

We should not have cheered Irvin's injury but again it wasn't every fan but some fans. Plus nobody knew his career was done at the time.

I dont think the new stadium has a jail so you are referncing Veterans Stadi which is the past. ". Like the Vet, Lincoln Financial Field had a jail inside the stadium, that contained four cells. However, this jail was done away within two years as the level of unruly behavior had dropped considerably from the worst days of the Vet."- wikipedia

So don't make blanket statements. You are classier than that. And if you arent then perhaps YOU need a mirror.

I've attended games in Philly and have seen and witnessed occurrences first hand. Too many occasions that Cowboy fans had to be helped from the stands by security, some who couldn't even walk under their own power due to being beaten so severely.

Nice try though.

I will give you that it's not "all" Eagles fans. This is why I underlined "those" Eagle fans. There are some that are civilized. It is up to those fans to help quash and subdue the fans that aren't so civilized.

I forgot how much I hated Buddy Ryan until I watched that one video. I wonder how much grief he would get today from the 24/7 media for pulling that move.

That was a cute six minutes worth of video. You might also be interested in this five hour production.

I'm an Eagles fan but am SO TIRED of "memorable" plays, video, stats, meaningless games, blah, blah, blah against Dallas. Especially since we have not one Superbowl to show for it. Honestly, if we would play every team the way we get up for Dallas - the Eagles would have MULTIPLE championships by now. This city and it's fanbase needs to realize that there are 14 other games on its schedule.

Smacking the Cowboys in the mouth now and again is nice as a fan, but the only one that really mattered was the run by Wilbert Montgomery to get us in the Superbowl against the Raiders and we all know how THAT turned out.

And this phenomena trancends the Eagles into our other sports teams. Enough with the "competing every year" for the Phillies, the trading away your stars like Barkley for the Sixers and getting JUNK in return, getting Vanbiesbrouk when we should have gotten Dominik Hasek for the Flyers... I'm tired Tired TIRED of our organizations being so CHEAP and not "pulling a Patriots" now and again.

Win a title already and stop living in the past... and that goes for all you anti-Eagles fans, those particular "Cowboy fans" living in Philadelphia... you know the ones living off of Broad and Oregon, Pattison, etc. The ones that are basically "fans of the game" (i.e. bandwagon jumpers who root for our 3 other Philadelphia sports teams but for some reason enjoy rubbing the Eagles fans noses in every loss) the ones drumming up throwing snowballs at Santa every Eagles/Dallas game. Read a history book now and again and stop going on hearsay - most of you weren't even born.

Yeah, I'm bitter... Merry Christmas

Dallas media barely even mentioned the fact that they are playing Philly today. Welcome to being a non-factor this season.

Great post. Love seeing a passionate, yet smart fan. Not one with blinders on. Good luck in today's game.

Dude we all want the Birds to win a Super Bowl. Take it easy. It's ok to remember better days.

I have been to a few eagle home games. I am a cowboy fan who wears his colors, but also is respectful knowing I'm in a rivals house. It's never pretty. Most of the fans are cool. There are a small minority who try to help you meet God a little early. Is that true in every stadium in America, even the world? Yes. Philadelphia, though, has the highest ratio of cool fan to drunken #######.

I love the NFC East. Each of the 8 annual games are usually classics.

I'm sure I loved the Cowboys getting their faces rubbed in their own poop 20 years ago, but looking at it now, what a classless act by Buddy Ryan, sending the gentlemanly Tom Landry off the field after the fake kneel-down.

No.. Buddy was the man and Landry deserved it"This was apparently Ryan's revenge against Dallas head coach Tom Landry, who Ryan felt had run up the score against the Eagles' replacement players during the 1987 players' strike, using many of the Cowboys players that had crossed the picket line"- wikipediathe hat and tie don't fool me.. you disrespect Buddy and he wont stand for it...

Westbrook's knee at the one today was like the opposite of Ryan's fake kneeldown.

Go crazy Eagles fans, go crazy.

Love,

2007 NFC East Champions
