greatest trio of all time NFL/NCAA (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
just want to get some of your feedback on the greatest QB/RB/WR trio of all time NFL and NCAA

thanks guys

I know it's 4 instead of 3, but the Notre Dame "Four Horsemen"- Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley, and Elmer Layden are all in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame.

I'm not as into college football as NFL football so I'll only do NFL football...

but man, so many choices...

Manning/James/Harrison

Bradshaw/Harris/Swann/Stallworth (since no one knows who was truly the #1 WR in that offense)

Montana/Craig/Rice

Warner/Faulk/Bruce

Aikman/Smith/Irvin

or if you want to go old school, you could say Van Brocklin/Hirsch/Fears form the 1950 Rams (who scored a then record 466 points, in a 12 game season)

I'll say though that if I could have any 3 player combo at the height of their games, I'd go with Warner/Faulk/Bruce or Holt.

I'll add an old school Redskins nomination:

Sonny Jurgenson (HoF)

Larry Brown (1972 NFL MVP)

Charley Taylor (HoF)

Does Staubach, Dorsett and Drew Pearson count?

A couple of Heismans, a few Super Bowl rings, NCAA records, Hall of Fame credentials, and two of the most famous plays in NFL history - The Hail Mary, and the 99 yard run on Monday Night Football.

I saw the Montana/Craig/Rice trio and mentioned, and liked it.

I'd throw in the following for consideration (all pretty recent NFL):

Manning/James/Harrison

Young/Watters/Rice

Elway/Davis/Smith

Warner/Faulk/Bruce & Holt (foursome, I guess)

1st: McMahan/Payton/Gault

2nd: Evans/Payton/Baschnagel

3rd: Avellini/Payton/Scott

Payton was better than most trios by himself.

I think when Faulk was at the height of his game (99-01) he was possibly the greatest RB of all time. When Warner was at the top of his game in those same years, he was in the discussion for the greatest QB of all time, and Bruce and Holt are also possible HOF'ers. I don't think any trio could top Warner/Faulk/Bruce or Holt.

I really liked the 4-some of Cunningham/R. Smith/R. Moss/C. Carter in 1998. That O seemed to be as unstoppable as any I can remember.

As much love as Montanta/Craig/Rice are getting. I think this one should be mentioned: Young/Hearst/Rice or Ownes, 1998.

From a FF standpoint alone, the 1997 trio of Stewart/Bettis/Thigpen was rather nice being a Steeler fan.

The best New York Football Giants' combinations...

Y.A. Tittle / Alex Webster / Del Shofner

Fran Tarkenton / Joe Morrison / Homer Jones

Charlie Conerly / Frank Gifford / Kyle Rote

Did Aikman/Irvin/Emmit really coin the term "triplets" like the media tends to imply? Because if so, I can't believe it took that long for that nickname to come out in reference to a QB/WR/RB combo

Favre/Levens/FreemanNow can someone please explain to me why people need to put 'football' in front of the Giants. Is there another prominent NY Giants sports team that I should be confusing the football team with?
