Green Bay Backup RB (1 Viewer)

They tried Gado at fullback, but it didn't work, so Gado is back at RB. I think he's the number 2 RB.
There is no lock at #2 at this point. Davenport and Gado have missed time due to injuries and it has been noted that Gado has struggled with the new blocking scheme. The sleeper here is Arliss Beach.

Why Beach over Herron?
The staff has been thrilled with how Beach has practiced and his work ethic. Keep an eye on him tomorrow night. He has also been elevated to the #1 KR team at this point.

Honestly,

I would be surprised if Davenport even makes this team. He is in the doghouse right now, and Arless Beach seems to be able to do everything he does only better. Davenport will NOT be with this team on September 10th.

Gado is the clear backup right now.

I have Gado/Davenport on my dynasty team. Let's go out on a limb here and pretend something happens to Ahman Green where he'll end up missing the season before the season starts, What type of WR could one get for the Gado/Davenpoop combo? Also in a dynasty what type of RB could one get, age not a factor with the RB???

Where has the coaching staff indicated that Gado is the clear backup?

Running with the 1st offense in every practice while Green has been out.

:lmao: Davenport, Herron, and Beach have also ran with the 1st team in practice while Green was out.The staff has made no mention of what RB is #2 on the team.

The Packers web-site has Gado as the #2 RB and Davenport #3Gado is also listed as the #3 FB
That is true but they have not announced what RB is the backup or the clear front runner as the backup.Gado was a late scratch last week against Atlanta due to a groin injury. Gado hasn't avoided the nagging injuries just like Davenport.

Ohhh, sorry. I didn't know this thread was "Which RB Has the Coaching Staff Announced as the Backup RB"? I didn't know that inference and extrapolation was useless unless the coaching staff has "announced" everything already.Herron hasn't received 1st team practice snaps in weeks (Herron is SO three weeks ago), and Beach is merely pushing for a ROSTER spot. Show me where the coaching staff has "announced" that he'll be anything but a special teams player.Gado has the resume > Beach and Herron, more looks at RB this pre-season than either of them, and Davenport has already been called out by McCarthy to get healthy, which we all know is unlikely. Beach and Herron have simply done nothing to beat out Gado, who performed extremely well last season in real life games. That's a pretty good amount of information for me - but if you want to sit on your hands until the coaching staff makes an announcement for everything, good luck finding value.

It depends on what you mean by "clear" backup.

I think there is a 70 to 75% chance Gado is "the backup" at the beginning of the season.

He was decent last week too. They like Herron too. I think Najeh has to show something to stay. He is cheap to keep but also cheap to cut. They may pick up other dropped players too unless Ahman looks real good in a game.

So us where Gado has been the only one working with the first unit while Green was out! He wasn't the only one and Davenport has been working behind Green this week as well.

I do find value you tool....I avoid all of the backup GB running backs. :lmao:

what the coaching staff announces on a given day is almost meaningless, the fact is the staff is probably fairly alarmed a the problems they have behind Ahman Green, their only true player at RB. I had hopes for Najeh, i thought Gado might be a good dark horse, but the bottom line is they have all equally sucked or the announcement would have already came, such as in Denver.

There is no knowing at this point what Green will do. Its a mess. Listen to Flawed and avoid everything. Remember that Tony Fisher was the first backup last year and they made no effort to even keep him on the team. Gado was a street free agent and may turn out to be a diamond in the rough, but more likely just a guy like dozens of others that will be available in the next few weeks. He's not looked like anything special so far this pre-season. Looking for value here is a fool's quest. Herron and Beach stand as good a chance to carry the ball this season as do Gado, Davenport and, for that matter, Ahman Green.

I guess we find out soon. I stand by my guns. Davenport will be cut. Packers RBs Green, Gado, Beach, HerronHenderson, LeachEven that is one more RB than I think the Packers wanted to keep.

good call a_rackowski.I did not expect it, but am glad to see TT run the axe like this. Add Davenport to the list with Kenny Peterson, Joey Thomas, Cletidus Hunt, B.J. Sander, N'ail Diggs ... Pretty strange to see a team cut to 51 on the 53 limit day, but that really shows where this team is at right now and how management views the roster.
