Green Bay's Running Backs (1 Viewer)

With the problem Green Bay has at RB. Do you really believe they go after Corey Dillon, or do you think they spend some money and get some long term value. RB Pope is now said to possibly be heading for IR( not that it would have made a difference but he was a body) Who or what do you see happening here?

From everything I've read, they like that fact that Jackson is getting lots of reps as they want to see how he handles it.

I'm pretty sure that in the regular season a lot of these injuries would allow the guys to suit up on Sunday.

what other possible slant could they use? He's just about their only RB left at this point. I'm sure in reality they'd like to have their other rb's healthy and Jackson getting fewer reps.

If there's a surprise cut later in camp, Thompson might sign someone. But barring that development, Green Bay will ride with Jackson and/or Morency (if/when he returns).

any update on Morency? We heard 2-4 weeks several weeks ago and I haven't heard any updates one way or the other.

no chance they go after Dillonif Morency/Jackson fails they'll pull someone that they've had in camp and not spend big dollars on a guy like Dillon

I don't see them adding much. From a fantasy perspective, I think Jackson wears down about week 8. He is getting tons of reps right now and will be used up by then. He's never been a workhorse.

The Packers are being Belichick-esqe in regards to parsing out info on Morency. By all reports, he could see action in the last pre-season game, but that's just speculation. If Jackson can impress in the next two games against Seattle and Jacksonville, he'll make it tough for Mornecy to get back on the field on first and second downs.

I actually think just the opposite. I think Morency has already locked down the starting job, and that's why you are hearing so little info on him.

The starting O wasn't able to do much/anything against Pitt's D. And I'm not sure I believe Dillon would help much right now either. Thompson can be pretty stubborn and I think he'll stick with a Jackson/Morency/Herron combo. Which I would agree with since they've only played one game so far and it was against a pretty good rush D.

I agree it's Jackson's job to lose, Mornecy is just an after thought now. The key is if Jackson can handle the work load.

I don't know about any of this but I think Noah Herron is a very nice late round pick.
I would agree. Even as a 3rd down/situational back he could see plenty of action. He won't blow you away with anything, but he'll give everything he's got into a block, run or catch.

I grabbed him late too. I think he will see plenty of action, especially with Brett being asked to be a "caretaker". This means safe dump offs to his 3rd down back rather than chucking the ball downfield.

Thus the phrase - If Jackson can impress in the next two games - which is a big 'if'. I think you're correct that Morency HAD the job locked down heading into camp - then he got hurt. If I'm reading you right, you think they're just keeping him fresh for the regular season? I guess it's possible, though unlikely.
