Nice to get a perspective of old school vs. the current generation. Fantasy implications aside, also validates that Larry Fitzgerald is the best WR of his generation, and that will play itself out in his HOF speech.
I've been holding my tongue on this but I can't any more.
I've seen and heard lots and lots and lots of interviews with Cosell. Nobody else has challenged him in this way with these kind of probing questions. I love the book he's contributed to with Jaworski, but it was painful to read in spots. This interview and transcription has been tremendously good.
And I think you can read in the responses how much Greg is enjoying this.
If you're not torn between immediately wanting the next installment and already sad knowing this series has to end, you're not a true football fan.
Joe Greene vs Reggie White? I have no idea how you answer that. Arguably the most dominant interior presence of all time vs a player that forces you to reconsider your entire passing gameplan.
And Cosell is 6-4, 205? As if I wasn't jealous enough of the guy already...
Cosell is a fountain of football knowledge. I think him and Ray Dindinger (and Jaws probably too) are some of the best at dissecting players, plays, offenses, defenses off of tape then anybody else (no offense to the men who write and scout for this great site). As an Eagles fan I hated Michael Irvin but there was no doubt that he was one of the greatest NFL wideouts of that generation 2nd only to Jerry Rice.
