Greg Lake - Emerson, Lake & Palmer - RIP (1 Viewer)

Wow, down to just P.

Unique band in that many of their great songs were keyboard, bass, and drums, with no guitar.

They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the virgin's birth

Always thought that was interesting, although if you listen to the music there is some plain old ordinary electric guitar in there. Lake did those parts.

Karn Evil 9 - First Impression, Part 2 is one of my favorite pieces, there is some electric guitar in the solo.

KE9 has passed Roundabout in recent years to become my favorite slice of prog. For almost 50 yrs i sososo wished E would go all Keith Jarrett and put out solo piano work cuz his classicaljazzlatin vibe @ the 88 was above extraordinary, but he just couldn't stop stabbing his organ. Yeah, #### 2016.

*rush sucks dead rockbones*

1) Did you ever listen to the Piano Concerto from the Works Album? Or were you thinking something more plain piano?

2) Blaphemy! Long live RUSH!!!

Never cared for it. Just listened to it last week MOF & still just kinda OK. No, i wanted him all Erroll-Garner, growlin-at-the-world while he banged. They say Beethoven was like that when cuttin'. Next to Stevie Wonder's joy notes, angry, brilliant piano is the best sound humans make.

*rush is the crusty sock of music*

I know the P here is Powell instead of Palmer, and this probably (unfairly I think) gets lumped in with the perceived dreck of the 80's, but I've always liked touch and go. It's maybe bit more bombastic than classic ELP, but I still think it's good. I've always loved the bridge particularly - the keys, the crossticking and the ride, all good.

Even you don't like the prog rock excess of the 70s, and ELP embodied it more than any other band from that era, you cannot deny what a wonderful voice Greg Lake had; hands down, one of the best rock singers from any era.  :tebow:

R.I.P.
