Guppies making the Super Bowl (1 Viewer)

Our league has a few sharks, a few in the middle, and last year we brought in this new guy who personified guppy. He shows up to the draft empty handed, proceeds to have a horrible draft and a really poor season.

This year, we were hoping for more of the same, but he pulls the 1st pick (LT), then strikes gold with Randy Moss in the 3rd round.

He fails to submit his lineup correctly twice (losses), but makes the playoffs and will be in our Super Bowl this weekend. Hard to believe, but Moss was a great pick for him, and LT has been big lately.

Incidentally, I had the 2nd pick in the draft (SJax), took WR/WR at the 2/3 turn (S. Smith and Ocho CInco), A. Peterson in 5th. Managed to win 10 games in regular season (thanks to Big Ben and Witten), but got beat in playoffs.

If it makes you feel better, our league leader wasn't even in the room for 2/3rds of the auction draft. But he managed to get Brady and leads the league in record and scoring and will likely win it all.

This is the Tom Brady/Randy Moss effect. Most of the "sharks" had these guys rated lower than their ADP on their draft boards and they tended to be scooped up by the guppies.

I don't even like to think about what Moss went for in our league. Talk about a steal.

I agree about putting "sharks" in quotes. I think the term is designed to make people feel better about themselves. "I'm a shark...you're a guppy." I have to wonder why so many "sharks" didn't end up with Brady and Moss.I didn't get either, and it's my fault. I let them go and someone esle was smart enough to take them. I get to avoid them this weekend, but might have to face the music eventually-- If I get that far.

I guess alot of these "sharks" have "guppy" in them if they didn't realize Brady to Moss would be gold. :hophead: Confusicous said "It much better to be a "guppy" with money than a shark with "knowledge"."

It's part of playing Head to Head. I love it and hate it, I average the most PPG in my league yet I'm 7-7. Sometimes people get lucky, but hey that's part of Fantasy Football.

I'm 1 or 2 in scoring in all 5 leagues and my best record was 8-5, and that team missed the playoffs, despite beating having almost 200 points more than 3 of the 4 playoff teams. And odd streak to have across several leagues is that I am also 1 or 2 in points against. And I'm likely to lose a championship this week to a guy who overslept the online draft and got Brady/Moss by computer selection. Fortunately I value the NFl over FF and with two wins over his precious Rams, I don't mind losing to him in a low money league. Of course if Romo/TO can help me pull out a win....
