Guys that aren't every week starters (1 Viewer)

Okay so the idea is to throw out guys that are not considered every week starters that might produce like a starter this week.

I got 2 - first I think the Skins are gong to tear the Bills a new one and I'm wondering if Moss is a good play this weekend.

The one I really like is Droughens. Jacobs is out, Ward may play but not at top form, and the Bears run D is putrid. Coming off a embarassing performance last week, I think Coughlin will go to the run and limit Manning's passing to right the ship. I wouldn't be surprised if they run considerably more than they pass. I could see Droughens scoring twice with about 70 yards (more yards if Ward is ineffective).

I too like Sydney Rice,it's all about the matchup and this kid has shown great promise. He will be "The Man" for MINN in this game. Start him with confidense if you don't have top tier WR options.

I boldly predict-8-rec,123-yds,1-td, plus 1-2pass attmps for 20+yds :tinfoilhat:

What about DeAngelo Williams? Is there a chance in Hell that gets a majority of playing time this week?

Bobby Engram maybe? Wes Welker killed the Eagles from the slot last week, Hackett is injured, Hasselback seems to like throwing to Engram... could have a real nice week.

I dunno if Jackson will throw 8 completions in the entire game, nevermind to one player. I like Rice for one deep ball, though, maybe for a TD.

This is a very good topic. I think there are several players that might be very good choices that normally are not.

The Jets have two - TE Chris Baker and WR Brad Smith - Smith has 22 targets in his last 3 games and Baker has 18. Baker has 11 recs and a TD in those same 3 games. With Cotchery out and Coles questionable, these two should see more action. Miami has a pretty good pass defense (ranked #3) so don't expect HUGE numbers, but someone has to catch passes for the Jets

Mark Clayton, BAL - I know what you're thinking... Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. If BAL is going to have any chance at beating NE, they will have to pass the ball. If Phila did in fact create a blueprint for attacking NE, then Clayton is in for a good day.

Fred Jackson, BUF - already mentioned. RB by default, but don't forget, Jackson led the Bills in rushing yards, TDs and receptions in the pre-season. He's a Bills version of Brian Westbrook, without all the accolades.

Jesse Chatman, MIA - The Jets run defense is poor and he is Miami's only RB worth anything. Patrick Cobbs may get a few carries, but Cameron's guy is Chatman. As long as he is healthy enough to play, he should ave a good game. He practiced on Friday, so things look good. Recently signed Gado, may only see the field if there is an injury.

Super Sleeper Aveion Cason, DET - It was Cason not Kevin Jones that has been getting more receiving looks out of the backfield. We all know how DET likes to pass. I can see several screen plays and middle screen to Cason peppered all throughout the game, using him as a short-ranged TE almost.

DeAngelo Williams, CAR - Williams didn't have negative yards rushing and fumble the ball twice like his counterpart DeShaun Foster did. Carolina may be down and out right now, but they have not given up. Perhaps a shake-up of things will help change the outcome. I would not be surprised to see DeAngelo not only get more carries this week against SF, but also produce as a result.

Miami has a pretty good pass defense (ranked #3) so don't expect HUGE numbers, but someone has to catch passes for the Jets. A total of 12 completions on 27 attempts last week. Who says someone has to catch passes for the Jets (unless you count the ground as 'someone')?

Mark Clayton, BAL - I know what you're thinking... Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. If BAL is going to have any chance at beating NE, they will have to pass the ball. There's the first problem right there. They have no chance. If Phila did in fact create a blueprint for attacking NE, then Clayton is in for a good day. The blueprint is already known -- keep the Pats offense off the field by controlling the clock. I don't think this year's BAL defense can bring the pressure on Brady, and I don't think their offense can sustain the drives the Iggles did. I see a lot of three-and-outs on offense early for BAL, a whole lot of New England going up and down the field, and then when BAL has to pass it gets real ugly.

Fred Jackson, BUF - already mentioned. RB by default, but don't forget, Jackson led the Bills in rushing yards, TDs and receptions in the pre-season. He's a Bills version of Brian Westbrook, without all the accolades. Fred couldn't hold Westbrook's jock. He's a 3rd-stringer behind two hurt guys, so he's playing. No accolades deserved. The Skins will get a lead and the Bills' running game will be an afterthought. I'll give him 70 total yards and no TDs.

If this thread is about guys you wouldn't normally start, my question is who wouldn't have already been starting Chatman (before his injury)? Also, one good tweak of his ankle on carry #3 and it's Gado/Cobbs time for the rest of the game. That would suck.

Martz has been weirdly fond of Cason, it's true. Also, earlier this year, before getting hurt, Brian Calhoun was getting some receptions. Martz seems to like that scatback type sometimes. But seriously, who in their right mind would pick up and start Cason, with Jones playing, for his 2-3 receptions this week unless there were zero other options at RB?

DeAngelo Williams, CAR - Williams didn't have negative yards rushing and fumble the ball twice like his counterpart DeShaun Foster did. Carolina may be down and out right now, but they have not given up. Perhaps a shake-up of things will help change the outcome. I would not be surprised to see DeAngelo not only get more carries this week against SF, but also produce as a result. I am a Williams owner in two leagues, and I've decided Fox must have caught DeAngelo in bed with his wife or something, because for a 4-7 team still to be playing Foster and not our guy is just kwazy. This is the same offensive braintrust that thought David Carr would make a good backup and possibly push Delhomme for a starting job, then when Carr was starting would let him go entire games without passing to Steve Smith. Anyway, forget DeAngelo. More of the same ol' same ol'. They apparently just don't get it.
Playing devil's advocate, just for fun. Don't ask me how much of what I just wrote I actually believe, because I'm not sure.

I like Droughns as well, Ward was on a decline(possibly/probably due to injury) and he may be toast for this season. I guess we will find out tommorow...

I wouldn't count on Droughns carrying the load. From Rotoworld: Derrick Ward-RB- Giants Dec. 1 - 12:20 pm et Derrick Ward is reportedly likely to start against Chicago in Week 13, ahead of Reuben Droughns.Droughns is expected to be the Giants' No. 2 back with Ahmad Bradshaw No. 3. Ward is coming back after a long layoff, which makes us wary, but if he starts there's a good chance he'll be worth an RB2 play. The Bears' defense has not been good against the run this season.Source: New York PostRelated: Reuben Droughns

I like the old vets Fred Taylor and Isaac Bruce this week. Granted, they may already be starters in some deep leagues, but I think they will both follow through on last week's good numbers.

Mark Clayton, BAL - I know what you're thinking... Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
Unfortunately, this is more of a case of "fooled me 41 times, might as well put a bullet in my head."I agree with you that the pieces are for Clayton are all there, and he does have the talent to make it happen. But the extreme volatile risk of suckiness that looms whenever Clayton graces your lineup makes it worthwhile to look elsewhere for diamonds in the rough.

Ike Hilliard (TB WR)

IF Garcia starts. NO has a poor pass D and they will focus on Galloway. This is a huge game in the NFC South - and if Brees can put some points on the board, it might turn into a shootout type of game in the dome.

Maybe a long shot (and optimistic dynasty Hilliard owner - w/ limited options :lmao: )

I love Sydney Rice long term, but agree that Jackson just can't get him the ball enough to be dependable. Not a solid option - especially in PPRs.

J. Gage, Tenn does not have the running going like they did, Gage is THE go to guy for VY!

S. Rice, Lions will be all out to stop the run and they have NO defensive backfield!

I like Sidney Rice this week, as I think the Vikings will have to throw to stay in the game with Detroit.

I like these two as WR and FJax as a decent RB2 this week.

I am gambling on Rice also. Up against Brady/Moss owner this week and not playing TJ and Ward because of the awful field/weather in Pitt toady. Already been hurt by the weather quagmire that is Pitt this year. Am hoping on S Smith and Rice; a gamble for sure but a risk worth taking as my playoff position is pretty much set.

I also thought about Hilliard, could be a sneaky play. With Jackson improving as the season goes on and Rice being the main target I could see Rice getting more and more targets. Big game for both the Minn. and Detroit. Detroit will focus on stopping the run, Rice should be able to get open against the pathetic Lion pass defense.

WR Keenan McCardell - Washington Redskins

I'm starting him in a flex spot in my league. Just grabbed him off waivers and he's been solid the past few weeks in PPR leagues (4/33/1, 5/76/0, and 6/60/0). I don't expect the Bills D to hold the Redskins passing game down and expect McCardell to put up another week of at least 4/40/0.

I agree with the Engram theory, in fact I'm taking that risk. I'd also expect Calvin Johnson to play more like a #1 this week.

Backing off the Droughens call - I still think there's a good chance it works out - just not as good as I thought earlier.
