Hakeem Nicks listed as doubtful a few weeks ago (1 Viewer)

I wish we knew more. I love his talent, but the injuries are starting to occur way to often for my tastes. Was just offered Nicks for Torrey Smith and D. Moore in a PPR dynasty. I'm torn
Don't want to turn this into AC thread, but I'd pass. I only have Smith one spot below Nicks.
Boy I would take Nicks over those guys easily --- but, I'm one of those hopeful that he'll return to form, and if he does IMO he's just far superior to either Smith or Moore, not even close. Just my opinion though.

Ahmad Bradshaw told ESPN Radio Tuesday that Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) has "hinted" he will play versus the 49ers in Week 6.

Bradshaw said Nicks "is tough and I think he'll be there this week." Tough or not, Nicks is far from a lock to avoid a setback after the soreness and swelling kept him out the past two weeks. It does sound like Nicks will have the green light if he can get through practices this week, however. We might not have a good read on his status until game time.

Wow, if he goes I don't know if I SHOULD start him coming off an injury with a bad matchup...but I don't know if I can sit him.

The last time I sat him when he looked like a risky start, I ended up leaving a 39 point performance on my bench.

NSN.Never Sit Nicks.

Per @giants, Hakeem Nicks & Martellus Bennett did not practice today."

I don't remember whether Wednesday was a designated practice day for Nicks; I know Thursday is his weekly practice day target.

Yeah, I believe all the reports above are referring to Nicks doing stuff on the side. Nevertheless a good sign if he's running and cutting at full speed. Thursday has been his "target practice" all year. It'll be a great sign if he participates and then hopefully we hear no setbacks on Friday.

(fingers crossed) I could really use the WR help this week, that's for sure.

@TomRock_NewsdayNicks running hard, cutting. Barring setback have to guess he'll play Sunday.
If he goes I sure hope he's closer to 100% and not risking further setbacks.
that aint his style. the guy plays thru injuries routinely, and has had some nice performances under those circumstances.
He does play through them since he always has them. The guy has been injured a lot in his young career but when he's able he'll tough his way through it. And he's talented enough to be a must start every time he's playing.

Nicks at 85% is still a top 10 WR.

Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) and TE Martellus Bennett (knee) are both practicing on Friday.

Today's practice is the big test for Nicks, who was reported to be "moving fine" on the field. If he gets through practice without swelling in his knee, the hope is that he will start at San Francisco. Bennett is trending toward being active as well, though he's obviously limited and won't be a recommended fantasy play.

Good news. I think it will be a rough performance for him, coming off an injury and playing one of the best pass defenses in the league. Regardless, he should be a WR2 level player if he's active, I would think.

Here's how some WRs have performed against them in 1PPR..James Jones - 18.8Cobb - 16.7Nelson - 11.4Megatron - 17.4Harvin - 18.8They've shut down NYJ and BUF recently but IMO, both team's passing games are a far cry worse than NYG's. If he plays, I start him knowing that SF can be beat.

:goodposting: SF is dominant against the run, but can be beat through the air, especially when teams spread them about with 3 and 4 WR sets. If he's playing and starting then he'll probably be worth putting into your lineups. I'm not worried about Eli this week either.

Currently have Torrey Smith starting over him. Neither of them have ideal matchups though.

What kind of decisions are the rest of you dealing with?

I am currently starting Nicks over Stevie Johnson, Brian Hartline, and Michael Crabtree.

I may switch to Johnson though...

I seriously have Josh Gordon in as my WR2 right now. I literally have no other option since I opted to not use Nate Washington Thurs night (we use blind bidding only, & our weekly bidding period has passed). Just not sure I could stomach a zero if Nicks doesn't wind up playing. Plus my opponent has Eli & it would hurt even more to see him put up numbers while Nicks rides the pine or is ineffective.

Nicks is currently in my line up...if hes a no go i will promptly place RB william powell in his place...both late games so i lucked out

do not bench your studs.I dont know how many times it needs to be repeated.
Agreed.......if he starts, you play him. Given the start time however, unless you have another NY receiver, you may have a tough decision to make. How long before a 4:25 kick off will this be reported?

If Nicks plays I'm playing him without question. If he doesn't play, I'm starting Hixon over him in one league and Cobb over him in another.

I'm tired of starting guys after injury and getting nothing. If he's a 100% right now, why wouldn't he have practiced more and played a few snaps last week? Naive to think he'll have a huge week a very high % of the time.

Nicks or Maclin as my WR3.Unless I hear bad news im starting Nicks, I think both are in for big days but I cant see myself starting either over Roddy White or Stevie Johnson.

I'd start Maclin over Stevie, much better match up (B. Bentely vs. P. Peterson). I own both in a decent amount of leagues amd had to make the same decision myself.Sorry to stray off topic.

I can't see how anyone would be confident that Nicks is in for "a big day."We don't know how healthy he is and the Niners are yielding the second-fewest pass yards per game in the NFL.

Already wrestled with that decision earlier this week.I think Stevie is in for a big game as well, Peterson is obviously a concern, I just weight it a little lower than Vick's inability to move the ball.

We didn't know how healthy he was going to be vs. TB and he put up a 30-40 burger, depending on the format.I also showed earlier how in PPR, WRs can be productive vs. SF. Jones, Cobb, Percy, Megatron have all had relative success.

There's really only one way to attack SF and it's not trying to jam the ball down their throats.
